Garden Tour Announcement

This is my garden last spring in mid-March. The trees and the daffodils are in bloom, and it's beautiful.

Would you like to see it this year?

The weather should be lovely.

I will be having a tour on Saturday, March 15th, from 10 a.m. to noon.

My white garden should be blooming, so for the first time, I will be including the front yard in the garden tour. Several hundred bulbs should be in bloom there.

The tour is a 2-hour class, where I'll teach about gardening in the desert, including soil, drip irrigation, choosing fruit trees, pruning, thinning, what grows well for me, and about the different fruit trees, vegetables, vines, and flowers in my garden.

The cost is $10. The class is open to adults only. Space is limited to 35 people.

To reserve your spot, please send me an email with your name and the number of people who will be attending.

My email is brandy (at) theprudenthomemaker (dot) com

If you live in Las Vegas, Nevada, or want to make the drive that weekend (I've had attendees from Utah, Arizona, California and Idaho before), I'd love to meet you!

I don't think I can get a day off on Saturday :( I wanted to go so bad. I try though... it would be awesome. I just made a raised bed today for veggies. First year to try to grow some edible plants. Cross your finger for me, please :)

I made those for dinner last night :)Some people grow lettuce in pots outside; I don't know if they will grow well indoors. Do you have a place to put a few pots that gets a good deal of sunlight (perhaps by your front door?)

I am more interested in storage and food things. We have no yard for gardening, though I dream daily of it. We do do sprouting and that is so rewarding you would not believe. My kids are so proud of their weekly harvest. It makes them so happy. I just hope for more info or things I can do for my family to help me save. I need personal advise, like you said on a older post each persons situation is different. I often wonder what plants dont need to be outside to grow, like can I grow loose lettuce indoors? I just dont have the time in the day to research it... I try but get lead astray to all kinds of sites, never to the point. LOL... I'm easily distracted... then I am back to my house chores and never see what I needed to. ok off my rant and onto laundry. I'll check back in around lunch. We are trying your "chicken cutlet" the oat one... I'll let you know.:)

I haven't considered doing it that way. I have done long-distance personal garden consultations and I have planned gardens for those out of state. If that's something you're wanting, send me an email.

Hi have you considered holding class for those of us that are not in your area? maybe skype? I would be willing to paypal that for some personal time. Just a thought. BTW stumbled onto your blog and every chance I get I sneak off to read.... Its like a great book you just cant put down. Thank you for letting us into your world, letting us know we are not the only ones struggling to make not only ends meet but to just make it through the crazy life still clinging to one another. Being a mom of 5 we struggle daily on all fronts. From money to just getting the 3 year old to eat, or sleep for that matter. (my 17 year old said there are zombies... they just come in the 1 year to 3 year old size) SO thank you for telling it how it is and saying what others wont about life here in the USA. That things arent getting better and that its our job to make it work n figure out how to tie our boot straps while still holding onto them... love your site your newest follower.

Brandy: I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a blog post about you and your background. I love your blog and it has changed my life (as well as my family's). However I always wonder are you self taught, a master gardener, etc...? I view your blog as a treat to savor and I wish I lived close enough to go on the tour. Thank you for all you do!

Brandy: I adore your blog! I was wondering if you might do a post about your background and how you became interested in gardening (as you are so skilled). Every time I read I want to know more about you and your experiences. I have to say this blog has really changed my life and my family's. I appreciate it very much and I always enjoy reading it and learning. Thank you and your gardens are just beautiful!

It's quite hot at the end of April, and too hot for planting most things, so I don't do them that late.

I used to have a link on my website but the site I linked to doesn't exist anymore. Do a search online on pruning and you will find something. Make sure to make clean cuts and not leave any stubs.
