Today, I am thankful that my husband was able to go to two grocery stores for me. He was able to buy 10 lbs of chicken leg quarters for $2.90 (an unheard of price in this area!), 12 pounds of clementines for $12, 10 cans of evaporated milk for $10 ($1 a can), 60 pounds…
Today I’m thankful that I had already planned to take the day off school. (The local public schools actually have the entire week off. We had school yesterday). I had planned on baking all morning for Thanksgiving and sewing this afternoon. I didn’t manage to do that at all, but having planned on not having…
I am thankful for all of you today! Thank you for sharing your stories with me; they remind me of why I write. Thank you for sharing your successes with making ends meet. Thank you for sharing your tips on saving money that help all of us. Happy Thanksgiving
Today, I am so thankful that, completely unexpectedly, I found a place to perform a service I need for $45, instead of the $250 I thought I was going to have to pay at another place. I didn’t know how I was going to come up with the $250, and I am so delighted to have…
Many, many years ago, I accidentally ordered two copies of a book. Today, my friend came over and brought her husband. He saw my library and gasped. He walked into the library and saw, on my shelf, the book of which I own two copies. “I love this book!” he exclaimed. “Do you own it?”…
I am thankful for the weaknesses of my children. In them, I see the weaknesses I had as a child: the child who loses things, the child who struggles to memorize the multiplication table, the child who understands the algebra concepts and memorizes the formulas but makes simple errors when executing the problem, the child…
I’m thankful for a rainy day, with nothing on the calendar, so I could stay home all day and clean and sew. It’s so rare for me to have a day like that. I am delighted!
After a few days of gray drippy skies, this morning has dawned bright and beautiful. I am thankful for a peaceful Sunday full of promise at the start of a new week.
Yesterday was a day of gratitude that some of my children and future spouses were able to join for a meal and companionship. So many new memories being made with each other. So much joy to come together.
Likewise, I am thankful for a garden in which I can work. We also had nice weather & I was able to catch up on many things that needed done outside.
I am thankful for friends.
I am thankful for a simple, relaxing day, time spent with my husband and a good night’s rest.
I am thankful that 5 of our 6 children and 5 of our grandchildren are coming over today to celebrate and early Thanksgiving. One family lives in New Jersey, 9 hours from Ohio, and this is the weekend they could come!
That I live in a free country and was able to attend church. It is hard to narrow it down to one thing today but I am also thankful for a warm home on this rainy and cold afternoon. My family is healthy and we have food on the table.
I’m thankful for phone calls from my (adult) children. It never grows old.
I too am thankful for the beautiful day that has allowed me to rearrange the cabin so that it is less cluttered! Winter is around the corner and our space will seem to shrink.
How beautiful that the ground is strewn with citrus blossoms. So lovely.
I’m very thankful to have a permanent roof over my head, food in my Pantry & my dog Rosie & cat PIB who love me unconditionally 🙂
I am thankful I was able to have a wonderful spirit filled day at church and mingle with friends.
