I’m thankful that I remembered to go to the store at the last minute. I had already put on my pajamas when I remembered that I needed to go to the store for the $0.49 a pound pasta sale. I got dressed again and drove to the store to get some pasta! The store has this sale only 3 times a year, and I always try to buy 70-80 pounds of pasta each time.

What are you thankful for today?

  2. I’m thankful that I didn’t have to get up, get dressed and go to the store for 70-80 lbs. of pasta, LOL!

Seriously, I am thankful that my son and daughter-in-law both waited until they found the right person. He is 41 and she is 46, they have been married for two years, and it’s the first marriage for both. I am also thankful that they arrived here on the 12th for a 4-day visit!

  3. I am thankful for the people who figured out how to make all those little inventions that are so helpful to us: zippers, seat belts, toasters, computer mouses, machines that cut pasta into different shapes, bread machines, rear window defrosters, and so on and on.

  5. I am very thankful that a trip into the city for a tooth extraction went very smoothly. It was a beautiful sunny day for a drive, the roads had dried up after several days of snow and slush, the car ran well, and the woman dentist was kind and strong, completing the extraction in moments.

  6. I, also, have to laugh at the pajama deal. Of course I’m actually picturing you guiding your shopping cart down the aisle WEARING your pajamas and explaining to everyone that you pass, “I almost forgot about the pasta sale. I almost forgot. “

  7. I am thankful that I noticed some flooding in the basement while doing laundry. It took me an hour to sop up all the water. I thought it was a hose from the washer, but it turned out to be a plugged sewer line. My husband ( a plumber) called the sewer line company and they came out later in the day. Because of all the referrals my husband has given them, they didn’t charge us anything to have the drains cleaned! And we don’t appear to have damage in the house. I sopped and mopped as much water as I could and used a space heater and fan to dry the bit of carpet that got wet.

  11. I’m thankful that my mom and sister were able to come over and spend time with my daughter and I today. I’m also thankful that I was able to buy her a nice snowsuit, and that I had gift cards saved to cover half the cost.

  12. I’m thankful that I recognize my slowing down. I was the person who did it all, got it done and made myself crazy in the process. I can still run circles around my husband but only if I want to not because I have to. (In my mind) I give myself permission to let it go and I’m okay with that! (You should see the dust! ?)

  13. I am thankful for my down parka! I don’t normally start wearing it until well into January but it is so cold here that I had to haul it out of the closet today! It’s not terribly stylish – and it’ snow too big – but I’m not giving it up! 🙂

  14. Today I’m thankful for a webinar I was able to watch about using the pressure cooker (Instant Pot). It was free, and counted as my continuing education for being a 4H leader. It was very informative, and I emailed the presenter, who cheerfully emailed me a link to the recipes referred to in the webinar. I’ve been wanting to utilize that appliance more than I do, and now I have more ideas of how to do it, plus a lot of nitty-gritty information about using it safely, etc.

  15. I am thankful for TuneIn radio so I can listen to my hockey team, the Washington Capitals, even though I am hundreds of miles out of market for over the air radio broadcasts. I also listen to podcasts, MLB, and college football games.

  16. Thankful for my friend whose family refuses to eat leftovers, and she cannot seem to cut down the recipes she uses, so she regularly brings over half a huge pan of lasagna, a container for spaghetti, half a pie (who thinks pie cannot be eaten the next day…or the next…or the next???), a container of mac and cheese. This happens about once a week. She refuses to take any money and says that until she met me she used to throw away the leftovers. Today we are eating half a pot roast, complete with potatoes, mushrooms and gravy. About the only thing I can do for her is use her vehicles when I do lube job mystery shops, so that she gets those for free about twice a year on all three of their vehicles. But even that means that I make another $20 to $40 above the cost of the oil change just for doing the shop. Anyway, I thank her profusely and keep her in my prayers. (I do have to practice restraint and not say that I would let my family starve until they appreciated food and my efforts in making it…)

  17. Oh my Brandy, that is fortitude to get dressed and haul home all that pasta! What a find!

  20. I’m thankful for my husband’s sister, who looks after his aging parents. I know it isn’t an easy job. Knowing she is there makes it easier for us to be so far away. We try to support her in any way we can, but we know she is doing the heavy lifting here.

  21. So thankful that I don’t have cancer and that I am almost healed from surgery. I breathe so much better with the tumors out. I am able to move around better and stand longer while I cook.

  23. I love your posts, Brandy! But I am curious–do you have to ‘warn’ your supermarket that you will be buying that much pasta (or anything, really)? I doubt that my supermarket even has that much pasta on the shelf!

    1. Nope! There are multiple locations for this store, too, and they restock every other day at most grocery stores. There was a lot more than this on the shelf!

  24. I am thankful for pasta, too 🙂 Kroger is a sister store to the one you have and I stocked up last week as well as “cream of” soups. I am very grateful for a well-stocked pantry.

  25. Wow that is some self discipline and motivation! Haha! I am pretty much useless after about 8 pm 🙂 The Lord is so good to me. I am thankful for a time to concentrate on being thankful. It’s so easy to look at what I wish I had instead of what God has so richly blessed me with already!! I love that you are doing thankful posts all month. It’s a wonderful idea!

  26. I thought I was doing well when I was at Target yesterday, and picked up 10 lbs. of pasta at 85¢/lb.(and was thankful!).
