I’m thankful for leftovers. I won’t be cooking for days, which is great; I have lots of other things to do!

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I am thankful for the US Postal Service and the tiny thrill of seeing if I have anything good in my mailbox six days a week. It is even not terribly expensive, considering all the coordination that goes into getting a letter from one place to another.

  2. I am thankful for a memory I had of my sister looking down with a beautiful smile and knowing look when I was very young and “I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” was playing on the radio. I was too young to understand the song and hadn’t thought about it in a long time. She is 10 years older but I can see her and how our kitchen looked then so clearly. I called and left her a message about it.

I am also thankful for texting with my niece and two brothers the last couple days. Two are on the other side of the country so I stay up late when we talk or text at night, a small price to pay for the enjoyment of it.

  3. I traveled to my daughter’s and it’s amazingly exhausting just riding in the car. So thankful to be able to go and for good weather.

  4. I am thankful to find two lamps and a headboard at a furniture consignment store. Bonus was 10% off today for Black Friday! I was able to get nice pieces for my home while saving a little extra.

  5. I am also grateful for leftovers! My two fridges are full and I won’t have to cook for several days…hooray for a break from the kitchen for me!

  6. I am thankful for my great nephews coming to my house and helping me to rake my leaves up. I was blessed by them helping me.

  7. I am thankful for a lazy day and being able to binge watch TV shows for free via the internet! I haven’t had a true day off since January 2020 and I am so grateful a true day off today.

  8. Books. Wouldn’t we be lost without books to read. I like to reread my favorites every few years – The Shipping News by Annie Proulx, all of Nella Last’s diaries, Quartet in Autumn by Barbara Pym, Herb’s Pajamas by Abigail Thomas, Betty’s Wartime Diary, A Midwife’s Tale (The Life of Martha Ballard) by Lauren Thatcher Ulrich, Ellis Island Interviews by Peter Morton Coan, A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle and quite a few others.

    1. Did you know they made a show of A Midwife’s Tale?

My friend was studying that book in school as part of her American Studies major.

  9. I am thankful for my hubby and son who spent the day installing our outdoor Christmas lights and decor. It’s something that brings us joy each year and I love that they enjoy it also.

  10. I am thankful for the peace and tranquility of country life and hearing the birds chirping happily through our open lounge room windows with a nice breeze blowing through 🙂 .

  11. I am thankful for finding some flannel sheets to gift for my hubby for Christmas! I found the right color and a wonderful price! I hope it helps him feel warmer at night as we are running the thermostat at 61, which is a new low for us. He runs more cold blooded than me.

    1. I am sure he will love them! I love crawling into my flannel sheets on cold nights. I struggle with the cold much more than hubby and my children and I am so thankful each night that they help me stay warm.

  12. I am grateful for my mail carriers. I am grateful for my HVAC guy that came to figure out why the furnace went down (Hubby got it right back on as he used to work of furnaces) even though it was a holiday we figured someone would be down this coming week. I am grateful for my Amish neighbor when Hubby told her I lost a dozen eggs (knocked them off the counter after whipping the whites and beating the yolks for fruit cake) she immediately went to her coop and got me more and sent them over with her soon to be 5 yr old (made his day as it was the first time he was allowed to cross the pasture over by himself). AND he locked the gate so the horses wouldn’t get out…now if he could just teach his dad that LOL

  13. Same thing! We had two couples over for the big meal, they brought side dishes, appetizers and desserts, and we split up food so everyone had lots to take home. We will be eating leftovers for two or three days, plus the Turkey carcass went into the freezer to make soup!

  14. I’m grateful that our grown kids and grands traveled far and wide to join us for Thanksgiving. I’m grateful for the warm (ish) temps for outdoor decorating today. I’m grateful for so much more than I can relate!

  15. I’m thankful for a dear friend and for the ability to easily talk with her even though we live in different states. We have known one another for 50 years now, and no matter what’s happening, she is a steadfast friend.

  16. I second the thankfulness for leftovers! They enabled me to get to a huge decluttering job the next day. Am also thankful that my kids helped me cook Thanksgiving dinner this year.

  17. I am thankful that you can price check via your phone at local liquidation store. Entire row had signs as 70% but my phone let me know most of the items were 95% off (originated from 🎯). I bought an overflowing buggy full for only $65. Will be using as family gifts and donations to those collecting for less fortunate.
No more leftovers here. We started celebrating Sunday and have been though two rounds of days of leftovers. After 6 days I’m ready for food from Mexican restaurant.

  18. I am so thankful the sun came out today and the family worked in the backyard, moving compost and mulching leaves for the garden for the winter. It was chilly but everyone had a good time and we got a lot of work accomplished.

  19. I am grateful for the ladies who delivered the chocolates yesterday and the homemade oatcakes today — both a scholarship fundraiser.
The roads were really icy today — so they had to wait until the thin cover of ice melted. This not only helps to fundraise but
helps me complete my Christmas shopping. While waiting outside, I sat and watched birds. I rarely have house finches but 8 arrived. I am thankful I had my camera with me.

I am grateful to Munro’s Books in Victoria, an independent bookstore, that, somehow because of the local Chamber of Commerce, is offering free local delivery. I bought 4 of their “bargain” books (remaindered books) at low cost and they will be delivered to my relatives there. One of the books was Madame Foucade’s Secret War, about the leader of the spy network in France during World War II, a book I’d really like to own for myself.

I am thankful for the warm weather and have fingers crossed that I will be able to finish all of the outdoor chores before it snows later in the week.
