I’m thankful to learn, after talking with my daughter, which skills she has learned from me and continued in her own holiday traditions.
What are you thankful for today?

What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful to be back online! Yesterday morning, I unintentionally downloaded several viruses onto my computer! Using free programs, and some serious searching and manula deleting (the viruses installed themselevs in mutiple places and made the folders hidden), I was able to remove the viruses and get back online (just now). I am…
I’m thankful to be able to physically work in the garden today. What are you thankful for today?
My 14-year-old son decided to clean the kitchen before and after dinner. I am so glad he saw what needed to be done and did it! What are you thankful for today?
Christmas 2016 I’m grateful for the chance to do some tidying in the house. I had visitors the last two days and it was a relief to have several things cleaned up and put away before they arrived. I did a little more Christmas decorating. I had bought a few small Christmas picks at 90%…
I’m thankful that we redid the garden and I have these beautiful roses! One of my reasons (and there were many) in wanting to relandscape the garden was to put in this particular rose (Desdemona from David Austin). What I didn’t know was that this rose would bloom almost nonstop in my garden, far outperforming…
I’m thankful that I was able to deliver photos that I took of my great-nephew’s baby blessing to his parents today. It was my first time using the website to transfer photos to someone and it was a learning curve for me. I offered to take photos of a few families locally for free…
Beautiful table Brandy!
I am grateful for a few days to catch up on missed sleep.

I am thankful that our family was in total agreement to stay away from the stores and shopping. Our county is far away from the 50 cases, 3 deaths of six months ago.
Beautiful table setting!
I’m so, so thankful for another day of no snow! I hope it continues for many weeks.
I am thankful for waking up to a sunny day. I have a lot of things to get done today and it’s always easier to be motivated on a sunny day. Rainy days make me want to cuddle up with a blanket and a book.
Brandy, I get it that Winter doesn’t want to be a blog topic, but without invading her privacy, can you tell us what skills she has carried over to her own home? Although I’m sure you missed her, how wonderful that she already has the ability at her young age to start her own traditions and make memories. My son came to the party late because he didn’t marry until he was 39. (We all know young single guys don’t do their own holidays). In the past, he and his wife celebrated Thanksgiving with other childless couples their age. This year they bought a 7 lb. turkey (I didn’t know they came that small!) and he smoked it, then called and told me he’d made mashed potatoes and gravy (both learned from me) and kept the potatoes warm in the Crock Pot (also my tip). He and his wife cook together, which I’ve never managed with my husband, and they had a wonderful day. I’m thankful to have a son who tries to make holidays special.
I am so very thankful for the strength to take a daily walk albeit a short one. So fun to watch the dogs scamper and play in the woods. I have to have someone with me and have neighbors at the ready when Monday comes and my family heads back to work. Getting stronger for the next round of treatment whenever that comes.
Brandy,
I always love to see how beautifully you decorate your dining table with real china, cutlery, glassware and napkins – even for the children. I hate to see paper plates any day but especially on a holiday and I think children are quite capable of handling china and glassware if taught properly from the beginning. Your arrangements are always simple but very effective.
Thank you.
Agreed! Right now, we are training our small boys with stoneware-weight plates and mason jar 8oz cups for everyday, as I do love the rustic look they have. I’m amazed how well even a bouncy 3 year old can do with a glass. We use plastic though at the end of the day sometimes though when they’re tired and clumsy!
I am so thankful for the large grant for the book. Still I’m amazed! And to hear early abut it, too. Now to really
get working on the book.
I am grateful for the wild birds that come to my feeder.
I am grateful that there is almost nothing I need so am staying away from Black Friday sales.
Oh I love your table! It’s simple and beautiful! I’m thankful some of our (grown) children and grandchildren were willing and able to quarantine for two weeks before Thanksgiving so we could get together. I’m beyond grateful that everyone is healthy and am looking forward to a much better, more hopeful year ahead.
Your table setting is beautiful! Maybe we will pull out the china for Christmas. I am grateful for mostly pretty weather for this holiday weekend. We got some walks in, I got some weeding done and sat outside for a while. This week a cold front is blowing in and looks like cooler weather for the next long stretch. We have blessed with a beautiful fall season here in N.C.
What a pretty table!
I am thankful for learning to make things by hand from my mother. She always made home beautiful and luxurious feeling, to the point where I didn’t know when things were pinched until much later. I have snapshots in my mind of candles at Christmas, beautiful greens on the mantle, bouquets of spring flowers, starched linens on the dressers, and many other things. Today I made wreaths for the doors out of wisteria vine that needed to be cut, and I filled them with lovely greens I found in a nearby ditch. I had the same feeling of turning straw into gold. What a gift to not be afraid to just try making something – the worst thing that can happen is that I make a mess and that it doesn’t work. Not too bad.
Brandy what a lovely table setting and table too 🙂 .
Today I am thankful for air conditioning we saved hard for installed in our home to cool us down on a 36 oc hot summers day here in Australia.
