I am thankful today that my family made all of the meals. I was able to rest while they did so.
What are you thankful for today?

What are you thankful for today?
Today, I am enjoying a breakfast of frittata made with Swiss chard from my garden, grape juice from my garden, and a mug of lemon verbena herbal tea from my garden. I was reading a book this morning; a true story that takes place in Germany prior to and duing the second World War. I…
I’m thankful today that we were able to put up most of the Christmas decorations inside. I’m also thankful for Malware Bytes. More than once I have had to download and run the free program, and every time it has been a help to fix the internet problems I am having. I had to…
Today as I dug in the garden and planted bulbs, I was very grateful that we were able to relandscape the garden. That area of the garden had been overrun with solid crabgrass roots and I had not been able to eradicate them in over 15 years. We removed all of the soil from that…
Today, I am thankful for a warm bed to sleep in. What are you thankful for today?
In honor of Thanksgiving, I post a gratitude post each day in November sharing one thing for which I’m thankful, and invite my readers to do the same. This year has been a difficult year for many, so today, on the first day of November, I’d like to do something a little different for just…
I am thankful for the strength to be able to attend to several tasks today. What are you thankful for
I am thankful I was able to spend time with my middle son. He wanted me to help me shop for a used table and couple of chairs. He and I had fun looking at used furniture and antique shops. He found a lovely walnut table and two chairs for under a $100–perfect for his budget.
Today I am thankful that my mother taught me how to sew. It is a skill I have used over & over again throughout my life.
I am thankful for two things today. One: That my children seem to be feeling better (had one home with hives and one home with her stomach condition giving her fits). And two: That I was smart enough last year to say “no” to my daughter riding the bus after two weeks (the bus barn is incompetent at hiring drivers). This was the second time this year that I got a text from the school at nearly 5:00 pm saying that the bus she would have been riding had JUST left the school.
For a husband who has made another year (today is his birthday). This time a couple of years ago we didn’t think he’d be celebrating another birthday.
I am thankful for a wonderful husband and marriage. My rock that has been by my side in good times and in many bad times over the last 11 years.
I am thankful that I am able to take walks around my neighborhood and otherwise exercise my body. I don’t take my health for granted.
I am thankful that I was able to submit a job application today and get a big project done. 🙂
I have so many blessings it is sometimes hard to pick just one, but for today I will pick the one that is most special to me. I heard from my youngest son last night and he is okay. I know that you don’t know this, but my son got caught up in a drug mess years ago. (that is the reason he does not have custody of his own 2 sons) Some times months go by and I have no clue where he is or what he is doing. He once was gone for 19 months and I did not know if he was a live or dead. So to hear from him is a blessing. He sounded sober. He made sense when we talked. I am so glad he is okay. Long ago, I learned I had to put the ‘matter’ into God’s hands because I could not do any more for him. Believe me when I say we tried. He had all kinds of medical help, was admitted to a hospital for rehap 2 times at our own person expense. But when it came down to it, I had to let it go and concentrate on what I could do, take care of his sons. (I know you are wondering where their mother is, she is a worse drug attic than he is, last I knew she was in prison) So I am thankful that my son is OK, that he told me he has a job, and that he is safe.
I am thankful for the beautiful weather we are having this week so I can get some much needed work done in the garden, garage and rabbit shed and chicken coop!
I am thankful for the inspiration that this blog and others give me on how to be more responsible with my money. The “gift a day” post that Brandy put up yesterday prompted me to make a beautiful embroidered handkerchief for my SIL’s Christmas present. I pulled out some white flannel material and embroidery thread, then spent the day embroidering and hand sewing the hem. It took me hours, but one precious handmade Christmas gift is now complete…with no money out of pocket!
I am thankful that my husband took the youngest to her orthodontist appointment (a 3 hour process because it’s far from home). I was able to deep clean a shelf unit in my bedroom that was long overdue for cleaning! It’s another hidden blessing of him being out of work right now. I am also thankful for frozen (by me) pizza that I could just pop into the oven for dinner, making a quick dinner.
I am thankful for watching my daughter (14 yrs) rocking my grandson (her nephew 9 monthes) to sleep. Just warm my heart. I had grandma time with my gbaby yesterday. I am enjoying my grandbaby. My only job is spoil and send him home.
I’m thankful for the apple butter I’m canning today. So grateful for the applesauce to make it with.
Today I am grateful for the little town where I live. Just a few over 600 people, but full of fun. I just finished walking on the paved walking trail to get my exercise in. They just built a new park this summer that my kids LOVE. The town had a huge harvest party for Halloween Saturday night. Great fun in a safe infoor environment. (It was raining!).
I am thankful for a workspace that has been given to me at my child’s school.
I am so thankful for my husband.. Today is our 20th anniversary.. I cannot believe that it has been that long.. I blinked !

I know your pain except with a daughter. Thank you for sharing. It makes others that have also done all they could for a wayward child not feel so alone. I am happy for you that you heard from your son and that you felt some peace. Your grandchildren are blessed to have your love and care.
Today I am grateful for our weather here in Indiana. Today is 61 degrees with the sun shining. I was able to get outside and rake leaves while the baby slept and other two played.
I am grateful that my sister won her re-election to her part-time city council positions last night. She is great at her job–it’s provided financial stability for her and her husband for the last four years.
I’m here to tell you from personal experience that they can come out the other side, clean, sober and wiser and able to reconstruct their lives. It may take a decade or more but it can happen.
You are a blessing to your son and grandkids. Prayers are with you and your son. You have done all you can.
I just love this ‘being thankful’ series and everyone’s comments. Very uplifting!
Today I am thankful that, due to my advanced age, I get 10% off on groceries once a month 😀 and that discount along with sale prices brought the price of Kroger turkey and butter down to better than expected levels!. Bought one turkey $0.71/lb) and 10 lbs of butter (1.71 lb)! I am also thankful I am spending time with two great friends this afternoon.
Sandra, I’ve been praying for you. I hope you are doing well and God is blessing you in every way!!!
Hi Roxie and it is a true blessing that he contacted you and gives you peace of mind that he is ok, so wonderful of you to take care of his sons too and give them a stable homelife.
I too have a son that is a drug addict and had to break ties with him due to him developing drug psychosis and his violence towards me. Like yourself you do everything you can for them, but as you so wisely say you reach a point where you put the matter in God’s hands otherwise it just eats you up inside.
You still love them no matter what, but in my case I won’t put up with the violence towards me, so love the person but not the resulting behaviour.
I am thankful for free college credit. I found out today that because I teach a dual credit course for Ivy Tech, my son can take 6 credits per semester at no cost. Love that 🙂
Hi Hilogene and yes you are right, so many more benefits when you become a bigger child, not more mature as the saying goes, but just a tad more wiser with life experience.
I firmly believe that no matter how old we are, we are merely bigger versions of the children we once were :D.
I am grateful for the rain we got here in our desert area. It will help our plants and save watering them. The weather was also much cooler and felt wonderful! No AC or heat needed!
11-3. I am thankful for my husband…..he is a Godly man, a hard worker, a wonderful father to our five children, a committed member of our church, a loving big brother to his 7 siblings. He’s a great friend to others and he’s my best friend…I’ll love him forever.
