Paperwhites in the Garden The Prudent Homemaker

Today, I am so thankful that, completely unexpectedly, I found a place to perform a service I need for $45, instead of the $250 I thought I was going to have to pay at another place. I didn’t know how I was going to come up with the $250, and I am so delighted to have found another place.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. What a blessing you received today, Brandy!

I am thankful for a teacher in high school who reaches out to me for walks (outside when it’s warm enough and inside when the air turns cold). Also, I am thankful for God’s unfailing love toward me.

  2. Hello everyone and today I am thankful that we were able to trade the use of our land and some vegetables for him and his mother as they need it for 15kg of honey each year from his hives being here.

What a blessing for you Brandy how wonderful 🙂 .

  3. I am thankful for Deseret Industries. I stopped in on my way back from town, looking for scriptures to replace some that are checked out every week by children, in the library at our daughter’s branch, that were literally falling apart. I was able to find 3 Bibles in excellent shape for just a few dollars. One of them was a large print Bible, and even it was only $4. I think it is important for children to have access to physical scriptures as they learn about their Heavenly Father.

  4. I was having car problems and took the car into a dealership that gave an estimate of $300. I then took the car to an independent mechanic who thought that it was a small problem and would only charge $30.00. He was right and I was so grateful. After that I always checked with him first. It is indeed a blessing that you were able to find a needed service at a fair price.

Today I am thankful for a loving family and good friends that make life richer.

  5. I’m thankful for the electric blanket I paid $5.00 for at a garage sale this Summer. I’d been looking for several years. This is a double, where our bed is a queen, but it works just fine. Love it on these cold nights leading up to Winter!

  6. I am thankful I was finally able to get all our area rugs out onto our back deck and steam clean on a slightly warm day. It has been a battle this year to get this done, between dealing with DD and weather! Now we just need to clean the rooms before putting them back down…ugh!

  7. je dit merci pour une vie simple et ordinaire mes enfants ont fait une petite fete pour mes 58 ans juste nous 4 ce fut parfait bonne journee a vous et votre famille

  8. I am thankful that my friend brought me dinner tonight after a very long day at the hospital. It was an unexpected but so appreciated gesture.

  9. Today I am grateful for other moms and carpooling. There is no school today but my daughter has to attend an event there from 8-11am. I work today so I asked around if anyone could carpool and got a yes. I drove them there before work and the other mom will pick up. I hate when the school makes mandatory events for the kids that are supposed to be days off and then they don’t run the buses. We live 8 miles from the high school and its cold out. My daughter can’t walk home.

  10. I am thankful that my husband has a job that he likes. So many either do not have a job or do not like what they do.

  11. I am thankful that I live in a free country with the right to vote. Today is election day in the small town where I am living for the winter (and it is winter–snowed here over the weekend). I am on the election board and there is a hotly-contested city council race, so I will be seeing my neighbors today.

BTW, most places need election board workers–and we get paid for it! Although I would do it for free.

  12. I am thankful for my public library. I benefit it from it nearly every day. I am able to get wonderful books to read, occasional videos, and I don’t have any additional costs to use this service, since it is covered by my property taxes. And then I can return them when I am finished and don’t have those items “cluttering” my home.

It seems like Christmas when I get my turn to use an item I have requested and been waiting for. I also like to think about who else might have read the book/watched the movie, and their experience of it.

  13. How wonderful that you were able to get what you needed at an affordable price!
I am thankful for my hard-working and considerate husband.

  14. I am thankful for my new job. My new bosses announced that we will have Friday off for Veterans Day. I’ve never had it off before! I can go to the veterans’ lunch with my husband now. Our town and some local businesses provide lunch to veterans and spouses for free each year

  15. I am thankful for an afternoon out with my two boys. We are visiting a green house with Christmas trees on display and I am going to let my oldest pick one ornament for our tree. A special treat with mom 🙂

  16. I too am thankful for the gift and responsibility of voting today, as well as for those who staff polling places and oversee free and fair elections.

  17. Today I give thanks for my husband and his ability to fix so many things for us, for the opportunity to vote and for the warmth of a wood fire. For a God that loves us beyond comprehension and makes a way where there is none. We are truly blessed.

  18. I am thankful that my daughter’s 2 dogs and our dog are getting along a lot better that we thought they would. I am thankful for finding Alpo dog food at a great price(the only dog food the boxer can eat that doesn’t cause the back door trots). 52 lbs for less than $20 with tax included.I am thankful that the dogs are not even growling at each other when eating…something I dealt with from our dog we put to sleep in May.

  19. I am thankful I am looking for things to be thankful for today instead of just feeling sorry for myself and angry at my current home life situation,

  20. Me, too! My DD is developmentally disabled. My DH is an amputee. He does not require any assistance unless his prothesis is giving him trouble…as it sometimes does.

  21. Today, I am very thankful for our woodstove and 2 friends who cut wood from our old property, chopped, split and SAVED this wood, then delivered it to us this fall! (we sold that house a year and a half ago and we did not know they did that until a month ago) Now, each day we are warm and cozy and have enough to keep us warm all winter. What a blessing.

  22. I am thankful for a roof over my head thanks to my wonderful son and good food to eat again thanks to my amazing son!

  23. Kandace, thank you… this is just what every librarian would love to hear! Every time someone walks into the library I think , ooh, will they find what they want? What suggestions can I give them? Will this or that display catch their eye into picking up something not on their mind that they didn’t know they wanted??
