Strawberry cupcakes with almond icing made to matc Strawberry cupcakes with almond icing made to match my Desdemona roses.

Desdemona is still blooming in spite of the heat! The heat does make it tiny and the blooms only last a day, but it is the one rose that really keeps going in our intense summer heat.

It has cooled down from 107 ° and will be in the upper 90's (F)/36°C until the end of the month. I will hold off on sowing seeds in the garden for cool-season vegetables until the first week of October, and then only if it cools down more.

I have a new blog post up today! Link in bio.

Watermelon
Armenian cucumbers
Zinnias
Herbs

Somehow I managed to get two zucchini as well! These rarely produce in my garden because it is too hot. They were hard as rocks from the heat (and were growing in the shade) but we managed to cook them and eat them still!

Current temperature here: 107°F/42°C.

I wear an apron every single day while working in I wear an apron every single day while working in the kitchen and often while working in the garden to protect my clothing.

I needed some new aprons and so I sewed up four new ones for $6 each!

Come see all four on my newest blog post! Link in bio.

Do you make your own bread? Twenty years ago, I h Do you make your own bread?

Twenty years ago, I had never made my own bread.

Now it's something I do all the time.

There are so many small things we can do to save money, such as making our own bread or making our own salad dressing, which quickly add up to large savings in our budget.

I've got a new frugal accomplishments post up on the blog! Come check it out!

A few things about me:

My name is Brandy.

I'm the mother of nine children, ages four to twenty.

I love flowers: in my hands, in the garden, in my home, in my hair.

I love dancing in the kitchen to music while I work.

I love the feel of bread dough in my hands.

I love the giggles of small children; their tiny voices and sweet kisses.

I love the smell of the earth after it rains.

I love the feel of the soil in my hands as I plant seeds, bulbs, and plants in the garden.

I love to read and get lost in a story.

I love to garden and enjoy the fruits and flowers of my garden!
