The bulbs are opening in my white garden! The vid The bulbs are opening in my white garden!

The video is an update on our garden as of yesterday morning. It's not very pretty, but the foundation of the garden is very important. In the years to come, it will fill in and look completely different. I think it's important to know what had to happen in order to get it to that place, so I'm sharing our progress.

I read this morning about rising food prices: how much they've risen in the last year, and how they expect them to continue to rise significantly in price over the next couple of years, and I cannot help but be grateful that we are redoing the garden at this time.

"Angel Face" is the newest rose in my garden. It's "Angel Face" is the newest rose in my garden. It's a floribunda that I saw in bloom a year ago and I was both intrigued by the pinky-lavender shade as well as amazed at how prolifically it blooms. I didn't plan to add this one to the garden, but when I saw it at @starnurserylv I knew I had to add it to my garden.

The second photo is the concrete base for one of the two new rose arbors that we are planning. This arbor will be five feet deep, so it will be a shady respite in the garden near the merry-go-round.

The flowering plums in my garden have begun to flower!

I have a new Frugal Accomplishments post up on the blog today! Come share how you saved money last week!

I hope your Monday is productive!

These tiny roses bloom nine months of the year here. The plants are short and make an excellent ground cover. They come in red, white, pink, and coral. The red ones bloom dark pink in the summer heat, but red in the cooler months.

An update on our garden makeover: We did some mor An update on our garden makeover:

We did some more digging this past week in the garden in three more sections. We still have more to do, but we are making good progress! We soaked this area for days to make it soft enough to dig.

This week we will be tidying the beds we dug with a pneumatic tile scraper (because we had one of these; it's also more pleasant than using a jackhammer), making forms for the rose arbors, pouring the concrete rose arbors, running more pipe, and then filling these areas in with good soil.

We've been working on this foundation for five months now. Planting feels close, but there's still a lot to do before we can do that!
