Today as I dug in the garden and planted bulbs, I was very grateful that we were able to relandscape the garden. That area of the garden had been overrun with solid crabgrass roots and I had not been able to eradicate them in over 15 years. We removed all of the soil from that section of the garden and brought in all new soil. Today I could dig without any issues. It was quick and easy. I am grateful to be able to plant in the garden!

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I’m thankful my 5 yo grandson’s mom moved back from further south, to only an hour away after we missed a year with him. She didn’t care for him getting so close to us, so we are always walking a fine line. But seeing him is worth the dance and I’m thankful.

  2. Always I am so thankful for my dog: for joy he brings, for his attempts at providing security, and for making me get outside and walk.

  3. I am thankful for nights of good sleep, which, even though not as frequent as I would like, prepare me for the work and pleasure of the next day. And the next one. And the next….

  4. I’m thankful that our house and property made it through the terrible windstorm with little to no damage and we did not lose power. House is fine, a couple of branches fell, but nowhere near the house

  5. Late in the evening after my son purchased a car, “Mom, it just hit me I have a car with no payments” and a hug.

  6. Today I am thankful for any moments of quiet home life and opportunities for doing basic housework and cooking prep. It doesn’t seem believable, I know, but in the past 2 weeks, our family (including me, our grown son and 2 daughters, my elderly FIL, and our 20 yr. old grandson) has had 2 colonoscopies, 3 hospitalizations for illnesses and surgery, 2 ER visits for a car accident and a possible stroke, and an urgent care visit for severe pain. All required hubby and I as drivers and caregivers. I am thankful hubby is able to work this weekend, as our expenses are through the roof. Mainly I am grateful for the peace that comes from the Lord by having faith during trials. Coming through trials really does produce the ability to endure more and experience the spirit of peace and even joy.

  7. I am thankful for healthy body that can do what needs to be done. I have a chronic illness, so I try to never take a healthy working body for for granted.

  8. I am thankful for my husband for many reasons, but especially for the way he seeks to help and serve me where he can. Small things like picking something up from the grocery store to peeling and chopping potatoes to make dinner an easier process are such a blessing to me!

  9. I am thankful today was a slower day, it has been too busy and my sleep gets affected greatly when that happens. Today was pretty quiet and balm for my soul!

  10. I am grateful for continuing the tradition I started a few years ago – planting 100 daffodil bulbs on my property in honor of my birthday. It has become a treasured gift to myself and my children help me plant them. I so enjoy looking forward to seeing their beauty in the Spring and watching them spread from year to year. And grateful to Brandy for introducing me to the source, VanEngelen Bulbs.

  11. I am thankful for my healthy body. I am almost finished with my annual wellness exams. I have some age related problems, but nothing to worry about. I am grateful to be able to move, think, serve, and love.

  12. I’m thankful I was asked to make the one way 2 hour drive to get my father in law. I admit I was a bit irritated my much younger nephew said he couldn’t due to back pain, as I’d just come home from hospital due to back injections and was supposed to be on full bed rest, but this was for my sister in law’s wedding, so didn’t tell them and just pitched in. Though painful, I got a nice 2 hour visit with fil, and on a whim decided to try one last thrift store nearby after dropping him off for a dress to the wedding, and found a perfect one.

  13. I am thankful that although our dishwasher is broken I don’t mind washing dishes by hand until we can get a new one. I rather enjoy it, although I’m glad we are just two people.
