It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and we were able to fill the trailer twice with the rocks that are our “soil” to take to the dump.

I’m grateful for good weather and the help of my family.

I’m also grateful for our church’s video today on gratitude! You can watch it here.

  1. I’m thankful today that my husband found some walnuts and squash at roadside “fruit” stands yesterday while he was out chopping wood in the forest. We spent some time cracking out some of them last evening and will do the rest soon. We have a large winter squash baking in the oven right now. I can’t seem to grow those myself. I’m thankful that we are fully stocked up, going into this 2-week Covid “freeze” that our state is currently on.

I was feeling bad about cancelling Thanksgiving, and grumping a little, until my mom pointed out to us all that we should cultivate thankfulness during this time–so true–but I let myself feel sorry for myself for a few minutes. (She has a way of pointing out things that is not hurtful or obnoxious, if you know what I mean–she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and is never judgmental or harsh to us girls) Then, she started a thankfulness chain on our family texting chain. It just shows that Mom’s still got it right–I’m so, so thankful for her and all she’s been to us for all these years. I’ve learned so much from her, and am still learning. She’s my biggest thanks today:)

  2. I’m thankful I spent a couple of days with our middle daughter in South Carolina, then picked up youngest son and his wife in Orlando and we all headed down for some days with oldest son, wife and first grandchild (a boy who is five months) in Naples. Enjoying time with all of them.

  3. I’m grateful you shared tbe video on gratitude, Brandy. What a wonderful perspective and gentle reminder for us during this time when it’s far too easy to focus on the negative.
    Stay safe and be well.

  4. I’m thankful that we have a Lidl (similar to Aldi) grocery store within walking distance. The prices are great and the walk is good for me!

  5. Thankful for my Mom who lives with us and is so helpful with my son and in making meals and other household tasks. We help one another and make puzzles together and laugh a lot. So grateful to have her with us and for my son to have a wonderful close relationship with her as well.

  6. That was a lovely word on gratitude. Thank you for sharing.
I’m thankful for safe arrival of our daughter, moving back to west coast from Baltimore. I’m so happy to watch her do her work-humanitarian and disaster response-and to see how perfect it is for her.

  7. I am not a person of faith Brandy, but I wish to thank you for including those words of wisdom from your President, and the prayer as well. I felt comfort listening to him and thinking of the words of advice he gave. I was most grateful to have listened to him. thank you. Ann Lee S

  8. Today was my birthday, and all seven of my kids called from around the country and one daughter is in South America. It made me grateful that we could talk and share the gift of family. I miss them all deeply, but this was a gift today!

  9. I decided to pare back on all my hobbies/loves/obsessions and get back to what has always been present, herbs, herbals and plant medicines. It’s fun, insightful and exciting to put more effort into learning and reacquainting myself.

  10. I am thankful I was able to spend the whole day with my 15 month old grandson. “We” were very busy. Thank you for sharing the message about gratitude. A timely message for all of us regardless of our faith backgrounds.

  11. I am thankful my husband got through his very long day which included a class in another city and working a regular hour day after he returned.

  12. I’m thankful for the health of my family, both immediate and extended. My mil who just turned 80 has most likely had the fewest colds she has had in a long time due to COVID. She has been so much healthier this year. While I know she misses attending church in person, staying home has helped her stay healthy. I’m thankful for my husband and sons. Both of who whom have helped me a bit extra due to a knee injury. I’m grateful honestly for this year. My oldest son has been on a precarious path and due to being schooled remotely since March, it has helped tremendously with both his grades those individuals he chose to associate with. COVID has actually been a blessing for my family. Crazy I know, but having my sons home, has been a huge blessing that I am so very grateful for. My husband has been working from home, on shortened hours but still a job with excellent health benefits. While some days are more stressful than others, it is a true blessing that he is at home to supervise my sons in high school. I am grateful for my regular customers, that I deliver groceries to via SHIPT. I have quite a few that are extremely generous and it has allowed me to offset the deficit in my husband’s income plus earn a bit extra to help pay off some bills.

  13. Thank you for the link! It is a little funny story. I was just googling a light with 10000 lumix to help me with feeling depressed here in the dark norwegian days. My friend recommend it and I am very greatful to know that I can have that option one day, but right now it is not in my budget and it made me a little down. I always get cheered up by the atmosphere on your blog, so I came over and clicked on the link. It was great message, more illuminating than the 10000 lumix. I will do my best to remember the healing power of gratitude! Thank you Brandy!

  14. I am grateful that we have worship streamed online. This week in particular – we had three deaths in our little congregation, and one in our wider friend community. Worship really does sooth my soul.

I am also grateful for your photos, Brandy. We are gray, gloomy and frozen here in Minnesota today. Your flowers remind me spring is coming. Thank you!
