Today, I am thankful for a quiet morning where my two youngest stayed asleep and allowed me to work on this website early in the morning! I was able to read comments and work on writing posts.

What are you thankful for today?

  5. I am thankful that we have another grandchild on the way, as I pray that both mother and baby will be healthy with a safe and happy birth. It’s early days yet and we suffered a miscarriage two years ago, so I pray daily for this new little one.

  6. I am thankful that yesterday was a relatively low-stress day for us. The previous day was filled with many responsibilities, trials, and heartache. As we are promised, Joy came in the morning, and we were able to enjoy and be aware of many blessings the majority of the day.

  7. I am grateful that I can work from home sometimes. I sometimes need a break from my busy office to get things done and today is a day to do that. Since it snowed last night and the roads are messy, I am extra grateful I can stay home! Added bonus: the clothes washing machine is chugging away with the furniture slipcovers and cookies are in the oven. It’s been a lovely day this morning, in spite of the snow.

  8. I am thankful that I live in the United States of America, with the freedom to speak, worship, assemble and associate. I am an elections judge in my county and it was a privilege to serve again yesterday. Just a FYI, folks–probably every county in America is recruiting for elections workers for 2020, Please call your county elections department to get on the list. You may be surprised to learn that this is a paid gig. My county pays poll workers $150 per election and $190 for elections judge. I consider this my patriotic responsibility…but I do take the money!

  9. Today I am thankful to feel better than yesterday. Although treatments are finished, the long healing process has just begun. Each day I will be stronger and heading back to being useful. I am blessed by this.

  10. I am thankful for the ability to sew. My mom sewed things for us when we were children, and I picked up a needle and thread at an early age. She taught me the basics, and later hired an older woman from our church to give me lessons. I have had so much enjoyment from this skill over the years, and it has been a wonderful asset to have.

  11. I am thankful for the fun and beautiful day I spent with my granddaughter yesterday. I am so grateful to be a part of her life.

  12. Thankful that it is in the teens during the day and single digits at night so that we now have a freezer as large the entire yard if we need it! I will now make many quarts of applesauce because I can freeze it instead of can it, keeping it in a covered Rubbermaid container with a secure lid. We only have a small fridge freezer during the warm months, so this is very welcome.

  13. I am thankful for good doctors, my husband is having an angiogram today and we expect he will get a few stents. Thankfully he is in good hands.

  14. I love the snow — this morning on the way to the archives there was a lovely birch tree covered with hoar frost and against a blue sky. Just spectacular! And there are so many tracks in the snow! And when I got to the archives and was looking down at some of the historic sandstone buildings, I saw many beautiful frost patterns on the window. They really did look as if they had been painted on the window…

And I was so thankful to reach home. I cannot believe how tiring research can be. I put out the bird food before I left but it has almost all been eaten. There were chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches, white-breasted nuthatches, a Downy Woodpecker, and lots more birds. They know I am the person who puts out the food and they were just right there waiting for me. I am thankful for wonderful animals like birds.

  15. I am thankful for the opportunity to be frugal. Because I am, I was able to buy a round trip airline ticket to spend three months overseas with my daughter and her family over our winter. I know that I am blessed to be able to do this and I appreciate every moment of the time with my loved ones.

  16. Today I was free in the afternoon and drove back up into the foothills for more seconds of apples. I came home laden with another 70 pounds of apples and some sweet potatoes and it was a beautiful drive. I was so grateful to see the last of the beautiful leaves and have delicious apples to boot. I felt so blessed.

  17. I am thankful for how much my husband tries So Hard to help me when I am in distress.
I was to have a job interview on the 13th, for which I was going to go through my closet, get a hair cut, and research the employer in preparation over the next week. I got a phone call this morning that they had mixed everyone up and could I come today, 6th. Of course I said yes, but only got ready and out the door with his caring help. I’m exhausted, and thankful I have this peaceful website to read tonight to calm myself down.

  18. I am thankful my husband likes to cook. He is experimenting with popcorn recipes tonight and I am enjoying it very much!

  19. Thankful to have a job that not physically exhausting as I approach the senior years. I am a nurse & thankful I do not have to work 12 hour shifts plus holidays running up & down the hallways of a large trauma center. (Let the young pups do this.)

  20. I am thankful for two little things today: Mom received the seat that can be added to her walker we had ordered so that she’ll be able to sit down whenever she needs to–enabling us to go on more errands and adventures together. She refused to try the motorized carts large stores have and preferred to wait in the car for me rather than riding around in a transport chair. So I’ve been rushing in and out of stores when she comes on my errand runs. And I was told today that I’ll be receiving two cookbooks as a present from a food company when, after I couldn’t find any cookbooks for sale on their website (wrong search term), I told them in an e-mail that I wished they had one in addition to detailing my food storage goal and reasons for that goal. I feel spoiled.

  21. I am thankful for the Time and resources to ensure a small pantry. We may get many inches of snow in the next two nights and I am ready!

  22. I am thankful for a nice cozy warm house. I am thankful for left-overs for dinner and wonderful table conversations with my husband.

  23. We are thankful that we were able to pick the first crop of silver beet being about 4 bunches which we blanched and froze for more meals in the freezer 🙂 .

  24. I am thankful for my hair styist. I was diagnosed with a rare form of alopeacia that causes total hair loss only in spots. I have two big ones right in front on my hairline. She cuts and styles my hair so that they are practically invisible! I know that this isn’t a life shattering medical situation but I was quite self concious about it and now I don’t even think of it. Thanks forArleen and her amazing skills.

  25. I am thankful that my husband and I were able to go on a day trip and enjoy a meal out in a restaurant and see the beautiful fall colors before they are soon gone.
