Thankful Series

Today I am thankful for the ability to be up and doing!  While I am still healing and cannot sit, today I had the strength to get up and get some things done. After not being able to do much of anything the last two days, being out of bed for just a bit has been a huge blessing!

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I’m not recovered yet. I just had the strength to get up and do a few loads of laundry. It was a huge improvement over the previous few days when I could only lay in bed. I had to have the children switch the loads for me, but I was at least able to get them started. I think it will be quite some time before I can do all that I am used to doing.

  2. I remember when I was 10 or 11 when I was sledging in winter I fell and severely bruised my tailbone. I was in so much pain. I remember I did not say anything to my parents for a few days (as my mom would warn ‘to be careful’ etc) but the pain was too much. I have to say being 10 and going through this, it seemed that it was healing forever :/
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Brandy.

  3. Hello Brandy & all from Australia :D. First of all I am thankful that Brandy was able to get out of bed and do a little, and hope that she heals and is gradually in time able to do all that she has been able to accomplish before.

I am thankful that my husbands hobby mowing and garden work and our selling vegetables and garden seeds side hobby jobs paid for all of our groceries last week for the fortnight & none had to be spent from our pensions. A blessing to be able to put that money into our saving for our first home account.

  4. After doing yard work and taking a shower, I am thankful for indoor plumbing and especially hot running water. The shower felt sooooo good!

  5. I am thankful for some recently purchased rain boots that have kept my feet warm and dry during all our wet weather. Plus they allow me to splash in puddles, something that makes every day better! 🙂

Glad you were able to be up for a short while, Brandy. I’m sorry you are in so much pain.

  6. Glad you were able to get up for a while Brandy. Hope you’ll soon be better.

Today I’m grateful that I’ve been blessed with a wonderful husband and that we enjoy each other’s company.

  7. I am thankful for the rain we have had, but tonight I heard on the TV news that tomorrow is supposed to be a ‘perfect’ fall day. With lows in the 50’s and highs in the low 70’s. With sun shine too. So I will get to hang my Monday wash OUT SIDE for a change. Yeah. I have 3 sets of sheets, and I mattress protector to hang out in the sun to do some drying and some AIRING, if you know what I mean. Stomach flu or sickness or what every you want to call it is not good for bed coverings.

I am also thankful that with today beautiful weather my husband got some outside chores done too. It was too muddy to get to my clothes lines, but he was able to hang up the new hose rack we got and hang my new daycare business sign. We have a brick home and need to use a special drill to hang things. He got it done. Yeah.

Brandy I am so glad you felt better today, even just enough to get some laundry started. That is a blessing. I hope your recovery continues to be quick. That you feel better every day.

  8. I am thankful for the crisp fall air and the fall leaves. I am thankful for this blog, it it very insightful and uplifting.

  9. I am thankful for a husband who fells the same as I do about tithing and about driving 3 hours to see 2 of our grandchildren in the Children’s Sacrament Meeting, then turning around & driving 3 hours back to make our tithing settlement appointment with the bishop. These things would be so much more difficult if we did not feel the same about them.

  10. I am thankful my husband was able to borrow the DVD Star Wars original trilogy set from a co-worker friend so we can watch it with my daughter for the first time. We will be going to see the new Star Wars movie next month. It was so enjoyable to share with her a movie that both my husband and I remember going to see in the movie theatre when we were children (yes, that just aged us, but I was extremely young when the first one came out). We are looking forward to watching the next 2 movies in the trilogy over the next few weeks.

  11. I am thankful for my SIL. As my MIL is dying ,my relationship with my SIL has become even closer. I love them both and find that my love language of food preparation for them is being well received. How blessed and thankful I am for them and looking at this time as an opportunity to serve.

  12. Brandy, I am so sorry to hear that you had such a bad fall. I had a similar incident in my teens and it took about 3 months to recover. I was mobile well before that but the sitting was difficult. I didn’t find out until many years later that I had actually broken my tailbone. I want to encourage you to do any anti-inflammatory remedies that you have, conventional or alternative whatever is your preference. My mom did not have the means to take me to the doctor when my injury happened so we did not know that when I fell, I also caused some damage to my lower spine (compression of disks). Since we did not know, we did not treat it in any way and it has caused issues later in life. Also, one of those hemorrhoid pillows with the hole cut out of the “tail” area was VERY helpful when trying to sit!

  13. I am thankful for my husband’s patience and his willingness to fetch and carry for me. I was unexpectedly hospitalized for most of last week, and hospitals make him very uncomfortable, but he came in every day anyhow. It will take me a while to get back to normal energy levels, but I have managed to cook dinner three nights in a row (even if tonight was mostly leftovers) and make a loaf of bread today. Trying, like Brandy, to make good use of my “sofa time.” My appetite was better today, but I need to work on my patience!! Unlike Brandy, I can sit, but standing doesn’t last for long.
