Today, I am thankful for the beautiful weather that we are having. The windows have been open all day and it’s an absolutely gorgeous day here. I was able to work outside in the garden for a little over an hour in pleasant weather.

The first of the paperwhites have started to open in the garden. I’m grateful that I noticed them!

  1. I am thankful that I work from home full-time. That allowed me to move to a lower tax, better weather state where I am closer to two of my sisters and other family members. It also allowed me to purchase this home and sell my old house and be set up for retirement in January – 52 more days in the office as of November 8! Finally working from home means a 12 step commute from bedroom to office and I don’t need to worry when I wake up to pouring rain.

  2. And paperwhites can smell so lovely!
I am thankful for fruit! I endure vegetables, and I love fruit, especially berries. How awful life would be if food didn’t taste good.

  3. When doing laundry, I realized how thankful I am that my family is properly clothed. From bathrobes to Christmas outfits, we have enough. And, I realized, we have enough footwear as well…from slippers to boots. Most is from thrift stores and extreme sales, but it all works. Very thankful to not be without or look like hobos after these past 6 years of financial struggle.

  4. I am grateful for my job, which I enjoy so immensely! The people I work with are wonderful, the people visiting our site from all over the world are even more amazing, and there are so many awesome things I get to learn about through my work. I spent the day in the collections entering accessions of new donations into the computer system…which means I get to do research on those items. It is just fascinating to learn about all these different objects (like what they are, what they were used for, where they were made, from what time period were they produced, etc.), plus reading the personal stories behind them and why they were kept…I am so, so thankful I persued a new career in my mid-thirties!

    1. Rhonda A: Being a curator always sounds so interesting! Right after I read these posts, I looked at my weekly grant newsletter and found one and thought of you. (No idea, of course, if it would apply). It is from the AIC, for institutions in the U.S. or Canada, the Ross Merrill Award for Outstanding Commitment to Preservation and Care of Collections.

  5. I’m thankful for the 12 Hour Baking Sale at one of the locally-owned supermarkets. I look forward to it every year to replenish my stockpile of flour, sugar, canned milk, etc. I put everything away the minute I got home (I overwrap the flour with a plastic bread bag and freeze) and it was such a thrill to look at my laden shelves. I’m thankful that I could afford to buy so many staples for the lowest possible prices. Also, my stockpile would provide food in an emergency. A blessing all around!

  6. I don’t like winter. Outside it’s cold, windy and there is snow on the ground. But I’m here. I’m alive in reasonably good health. Not too far away are children and grandchildren that love me. And I am blessed and thankful.

  7. I’m thankful for The Prudent Homemaker, Brandy herself and all the ladies here. I’m also thankful for God’s peace in the midst of turmoil and trials.

  8. I am thankful I can be retired. It allows me to work at being healthy, choose what I want to do and find opportunities to help others.

  9. I am thankful for the three bunches of beautiful flowers – all in shades of white Brandy! I bought them for a dollar each (were $15.00 each) and will put them around the house – even in the bathroom!

  10. My mother-in-love passed away on Wednesday. I am thankful my husband has been working in Detroit the past three weeks instead of here in Georgia. Because he was that far north, he was able to drive 6 hours last weekend to share a quality visit with his mother in Pennsylvania before she passed.

  11. Thankful for a garage, which seems like nothing but when it is below zero at night or it has snowed about a ton overnight, it makes life much easier to be able to get into a warm car that does not need to be brushed off.

  12. I am thankful that my skin cancer surgical procedure brought clear margins. I am so thankful to have the six stitches right in the bend of my elbow removed yesterday, although there are still 3 stitches under the skin left to dissolve in 3 months. Although still very sore and tender, having the exterior stitches removed has helped with the pain. My dermatologist is very competent.

  13. I am thankful for a wonderful young woman named Jennifer who works with my son. She does so much good teaching and for the rest of his life he will benefit from the work she has done now. Blessings to her and all the caregivers out there, many underpaid and under appreciated . She is a gem:)

  16. Angela in Kentucky: I live in Nicholasville, KY. Yes, it was cold this morning and it was so wonderful the sun came out and warmed things up. To my post I forgot to say my park day was on Wednesday.

  17. I am thankful for my walking friends. We got together outside of walking and had a wonderful time! More to come!

  18. I am thankful for our library. So many books, e-books, audio books, CDs, DVDs and more, available to me and everyone else in our community. An amazing resource I am so grateful to have access to.

  19. I am thankful that the freezer of my fridge is filled to the brim, and all I have to do is make my meal plan for the coming weeks a reality.

  20. I am thankful for a warm tub full of bubbles. A bubble bath has always been my go-to when I was stressed, worried, tired, sore, sad, etc. It’s amazing how such a simple thing can be so relaxing and refreshing.

  21. I am thankful that you shared your daffodils with us in the UK.

I am thankful that I can still take part in our local parkrun. Do you have them I the US.?

  22. I’m playing catch up…
11/05 – I am thankful for the right to vote.
11/06 – I am thankful that I have Wednesdays off. It has given me the opportunity to catch up on things at home and do a one-on-one bible study with a friend in need.
11/07 – I am thankful for a group of 3 other ladies who meet with me every other Thursday for bible study. We’ve been meeting faithfully for about 5 years.

  23. We have a winter advisory for Erie county in NW PA. We could get up to 6 – 12 inches of wet heavy snow and higher in some areas. I am very thankful for a 4 wheel drive grizzly four wheeler to plow the driveway with. Also, for a portable generator in case the electric goes out. And for my dear hubby who saw that all was in top running condition before this storm. I am thankful for the jars of food he helped me process and a small freezer filled to the brim with veggies from my garden and our dear church friends who share their extra bounty and deer meat by from son’s archery season. We kept our pastor and his wife’s 2 boys this weekend while they were away at schooling. It was so absolutely wonderful to hear genuine laughter and just having children in the home. We are empty nesters, having raised 3 active boys. It was truly a blessing. Have a wonderful week Brady!! Your blog is very encouraging to me!!
