I am thankful today for the Armenian cucumbers that grew in our garden this year, which allowed me to make pickles. We had pickles with our lunch today.

I’m thankful for Aldi. I just spent an hour going over the coupon match-ups for another grocery store’s ad and comparing the prices to Aldi’s in my price book. Aldi’s regular prices still beat all the sale prices (even the BOGO) except for 2 items, and those 2 items I’m not going to be buying. I had so much trouble trying to get the coupons to print and finally gave up. What a waste of time. I need to just stick with Aldi and give up on the other grocery stores and matching up coupons. Aldi even beats Sam’s club prices most of the time. Gone are the days of getting things free or almost free with coupons.
Finding thankfulness for the little (or long) things in life is what makes life so special. Love those cucumbers.

I’m thankful that I am at home and not out in the cold today. My pantry is full as well as bellies:)
I am thankful for Mac and Rob at our local Home Depot who helped the 4 women who showed up for the Do It Herself workshop for a demonstration on making a lighted marquee sign. They weren’t really expecting us but jumped right into it and actually helped us start our signs, rather than just demonstrating how to make one. Their manager Jeff was also great. The three of them GAVE us all the materials to make the signs (wood, MDF, lights, nails, wood glue, etc.) and taught us how to use a jigsaw, which I now want – badly. These men were patient, informative, provided lots of little tips on doing the best job, etc. I still have work to do (painting, drilling holes for the lights, putting the lettters on the board, installing the lights in the holes, etc.), but I can do all of those tasks and my daughter will be home from college and wants to learn and help. It was a wonderful evening and I learned a new skill – and seriously, I want a jigsaw. It wasn’t nearly as hard or intimidating as I expected.

I am thankful for our home in the country. Every morning I get to look out at a beautiful mountain and our animals peacefully grazing in our pasture. We have miniature donkeys , a horse and alpacas. What a privilege.
I am thankful for amazing, lifelong friends! Growing up I admired my grandmother and the fact she had the same friends for 60+ years. I learned young what a blessing friendship can be!
First, I am so thankful that we have the money to buy groceries and pay our bills. Second, again I am thankful for The Prudent Homemaker.
Note to Debbie in Florida: I have the same problem printing coupons that you do except from the Dollar General site. They also have manufacturer coupons that you can use anywhere, but I can only get them to print from the DG site. I have tried other couponing sites and I can’t get them to work. I think you have to download a program called Coupon Printer for Windows from Coupons.com to use DG’s couponing site. But that is the only one and I downloaded it in 2013. When you go to the DG site and click on the coupons it will prompt you. I like Aldi too, but it is too far from our home to go there very often. I love their produce and humus and it is always cheaper and fresher there than our local grocery store.
