It was a beautiful day today. I watched the sunrise, which was incredible. We had some clouds (a rare thing here) and they made all the difference. I’m thankful that the weather was pleasant (We had a high of 82 degrees F/29 degrees C today). It allowed me to work in the garden all day…

I’m thankful for my two-year-old, who yesterday answered my childhood question of whether or not it was possible to stick green olives with pimentos on one’s fingers just as well as black olives. If your fingers are small enough, you sure can! I’m also thankful for all of his ugs, and his remark to…

Today I am thankful for the invention of the doppler, which allows midwives and doctors to hear an unborn baby’s heartbeat, and for a midwife who knew what we needed to do to make sure my son was born safely. I enjoyed his giggles yesterday. He is a happy and healthy baby, and I…

Many years ago, as a university student, I took a New Testament class from a great professor. I later became his teacher’s assistant until the time of his “official” retirement at the age of 72. He lived another 20 years, though, working and researching continuously. Today, I found a listing about him on Wikipedia, and…

Earlier this spring (as pictured in the photo) only a few of these miniature daffodils bloomed. I figured they were probably getting too crowded and needed to be divided. Because we are changing up the garden, I spent yesterday digging these out. They had multiplied exceedingly! I’m thankful that bulbs multiply and flowers go to…
Today I am thankful for trains. Aren’t they amazing? You just hop in and get whisked away to wherever you want to go. No need to spend days trudging on foot or huddled in the cold on top of a horse or in a carriage.
I am grateful for the dedicated staff of the NHS, currently giving wonderful care to a friend.
I’m thankful for cosy, fleecy leggings and wool that I can use for knitting Christmas gifts.
I am grateful for the few moments of quiet in the early morning before anyone else is up. Just me, my animals and the sun rising over the mountains. That bit of peace makes me feel ready for whatever might come my way the rest of the day.
I am thankful that a repairman can come out today to look at my broken oven. Her son and family are coming for a visit on Thursday and hopefully the oven can be fixed by then.

I’m thankful that my son was able to help me get the bulk of the work done for pouring and leveling the gravel pads for our rain barrels, and my folks came and helped finish things up. We were able to get it done in a few hours so my husband didn’t have to tackle it after work. (Now we just need the barrels and the RAIN.)
Today I am thankful for my son and his enthusiasm and determination.
I am thankful for caring doctors and nurses that go the extra mile to help their patients.
I am thankful to be within walking distance of three libraries. The closest one is about 25 minutes away. I usually go there about twice a week to either return books or pick up books that I have requested. I love my libraries!
I am thankful for hoody sweatshirts.
I am grateful we got our water leak fixed last week. The past two months have seen an increase in our usage, I checked all the outside sprinklers and saw an area wetter than expected. Our gardener came and dug into that area, found the main water line to our house had cracked. The pipe from the street to the house is PVC! Anyway, it took him most of the day to dig out the area and then replace the PVC. So an unexpected expense but I am happy to have been able to get it fixed quickly and now our water usage will be back to normal.
Oh that’s a HUGE deal! I’m surprised it was PVC! It shouldn’t be!
Our main line is also PVC. I think it main depend on where you live and the type of soil. The previous line was terracotta and was very cracked by tree roots.

I am thankful for my two hands that can work. And a hard-working, kind husband.
I’m thankful for the cooler weather that they say is coming. Sitting on my screened porch on a cool, quiet day is like a vacation for me.
I too am thankful for working appliances. We had our dishwasher replaced yesterday as the repair cost was too high for the age of the old one given other things that could break. Glad you have your frig back.
I am grateful for having reached my destination early this morning by cab in spite of the snowstorm and bad roads. I am thankful that my medical test went all right even though I did not have sedation.
I was really thankful that the roads were much better on my return home and that it turned into a beautiful blue sky day. And finally I’m happy and thankful that the woman we sponsored for a grant received one in very swift order.
I am thankful for the right and privilege to vote. I am thankful for poll workers trying to keep our voting process easy and correct.
I am thankful for the dentist’s office in our very small, very rural community. It is a rare thing to have access to a dentist full time in a community as small as ours (less than 1,000 people). Not only are he and his staff great providers and especially good with young children, but they allow payments and are trained to do orthodontia including the braces we were able to get for our oldest children at a significantly reduced price. We would have otherwise have to travel 60 miles to the nearest dentist, 90 plus miles one way to the nearest orthodontist and pay up front to boot. What a blessing they are!
Wow, how do you feed a family of nine with no refrigerator for a week?
I put what I could fit in my mom’s extra fridge and a couple of things in our garage fridge, but that was mostly full. I lost some things that wouldn’t fit, sadly. I didn’t buy any food last week.
Today I am thankful for the floors I washed and the counters I cleaned. Home is a blessing and a clean one is a bonus.
I am thankful for our simple dinner of soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and apple pie after another stressful day. Comfort food shared with my dear husband is a blessing.

I am thankful that 2 new toilets are being delivered tomorrow and the plumber is coming Thursday. We just discovered a leak in one of our bathrooms and needed a speedy solution. (And the other bathroom’s toilet has been broken since we bought the house last year.).
