Cemetery Flags The Prudent Homemaker

On this Veteran’s Day, I am thankful for the peace that we enjoy due to those who have served to make it that way.

Many in the world are running from war and looking for a place of safety and peace. May we who are in peaceful nations be grateful that we can remain in our homes, enjoying food, a bed, clean water, safety, and an education for our children.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. As a mom of two active duty soldiers I am so grateful for the veteran’s and their families for the sacrifices they have made that have blessed so many generations of Americans. We have so many freedoms, including the freedom of religion that many others do not have. These are hard fought sacrifices they made and I pray we all thank our veterans and soldiers whenever we see one.

  2. I am thankful for the men and women who serve this country today, the ones who served in the past. My father served, my husband served 30+ years…it is not an easy life for the family of these service members. May God bless them and keep them safe. Thankful to live in this country.

  3. Today I’m thankful for my wonderful Dad, who is a Desert Storm veteran. He lives 5 hours away from me, and that makes it hard to see him as much as I’d like, but love knows no distance. Happy Veteran’s Day to everyone; thank you for what you do!

  4. I am also thankful for the veterans. My Father was a Korean War Veteran; i know firsthand how difficult war is on a family. They deserve our deepest respect.

  5. I am so, so thankful to everyone who fought in the world wars and in other conflicts around the world to fight hate and bring peace. I never take living in a peaceful country for granted, with food, shelter, and the security of never having been bombed. I can’t imagine living in a place like a Syrian war zone, where food, shelter, and security are hard to find.

And on a flippant yet true note, am also thankful for chocolate.

  6. I am beyond thankful for the peace we have today. As others in the world are in turmoil and experiencing war, we have the opportunity to believe as we want, hold open elections, raise our children as we chose, walk down the street in safety, listen to what we wish, choose what to wear, and so much more. I am so grateful for all our privileges and thank those in our military and their families for their sacrifices. We are blessed.

  7. I am thankful for the same things, Brandy. I often talk to my kids about how other people don’t have the same freedoms most people here take for granted. Thank you to all veterans, past and present!

  8. I am grateful that I have a date out with my husband tonight. We haven’t had many of those the last few years so each one is a special treat.
And I’m thankful for all our men and women who have served our country in the armed forces! Thank you for your service, one and all!

  9. I am so thankful for grace in our lives and the incredible blessing of living in this country where we have so many freedoms, opportunities, and great abundance. Gratitude truly is the only justifiable response to all that we have been given. : >

  10. 11-10 I am thankful for the opportunity to be a mother and grandmother. I know I should not take these gifts for granted. I know many stories of sadness from women who have prayed for that opportunity so so much. I am thankful that so many times an adopted baby fills their hearts and lives. A family is a family.

11-11 I am thankful that my ancestors, in search of religious freedom, made it over here in the 1700’s. Our church is one of the peach churches, meaning our members do not normally join the military (though it happens…I had a cousin in the Army during Vietnam) but that does not mean we do not support and appreciate. Our members often do alternative service…my father and one of my mother’s brothers both did theirs as aides in psychiatric hospitals during WWII, for example.

  11. I’m thankful that all the veterans I know made it safely home from their service. My Dad, several uncles and cousins, friends and my husband and son in law.

  12. Today, I am thankful to those who have fought for peace, like my husbands grandfather who fought to liberate Holland during WWII and my brother’s childhood friend who served in Afghanistan. I am thankful to those who may not have fought in wars, but supported them from home, like my grandparents who worked in an ammunition factory during WWII. But most of all, I am thankful our country continues to embrace those who immigrate from war torn countries, like my husbands grandmother who was a WWII war bride and my daughter’s friend who is one of the many Syrian refugees that immigrated here earlier this year, so they too can live with the freedom and peace we are so incredibly fortunate to experience here in Canada.

  13. I am thankful for my son, who served in the Army and was in Iraq for two tours for a total of 23 months, and came home relatively unscathed. No one who serves in a war zone, is ever totally unscathed by the experience. For my husband, the Marine, my father, who was in the Air Force, and my father-in-law who was in the Navy. I come from a family who serves.

  14. I am thankful for the country we live in and for all the men and women who put their lives on the line to let us have our freedoms.

  15. I am thankful that my husband was brave enough to be in the military during Vietnam. I could not have volunteered for such a devastating event. While I still, many years later, do not agree with our government’s decision to enter that war, I am so grateful that there were men brave enough and strong enough to stand up to the enemy and save the people and freedoms of our great country. May we always be the land of the free and home of the brave. One nation, under God.

  16. I didn’t have an opportunity to post yesterday, but I too am thankful for all of our veterans and their families who sacrifice so much for our country.
