What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for all of you today! Thank you for sharing your stories with me; they remind me of why I write. Thank you for sharing your successes with making ends meet. Thank you for sharing your tips on saving money that help all of us. Happy Thanksgiving
I saw something recently that asked the question, “What do you have today that you prayed for in the past?” It really struck me, because there are many things that I have enjoyed this year that I did not have in years past, as the budget did not allow for it. I thought about the…
Christmas 2016 I’m grateful for the chance to do some tidying in the house. I had visitors the last two days and it was a relief to have several things cleaned up and put away before they arrived. I did a little more Christmas decorating. I had bought a few small Christmas picks at 90%…
Today, I’m thankful for my husband’s patience as I drew and redrew part of the garden plans both inside and outside. We discovered that our wall on the east side of the garden is not straight; we had measured it along the back of the garden near the fig tree, but it is considerably shorter…
I’m grateful our friends were able to pick us up because our van had stopped working. We had planned a visit with them and it was great to get to see them for a short visit while they were in town. I’m also thankful that our van started again and we were able to drive…
Ivory woke up early in the morning, just as I was about to get into the shower. She came in crying, that little whimper that comes after a bad dream. I am thankful that she has a mother who can comfort her after a bad dream. I know there are children who don’t have…

I thankful for a city building our group can meet at for no charge to hang out, run around, and play board games.
After a few years of not having a house, our stuff in storage and putting together places to live, we now have a small cabin for my son to use while going to college on land I grew up on. And we have a house where we have enough bedrooms and all of our favorite family things. I am thankful to have this stability in our lives. We are walking through the fires of life and not smelling like smoke!
I am thankful that I am not famous and subject to either lavish praise or horrible ridicule online by people who do not know me. Being ordinary and middle class suits me just fine.
Very well put.
Nov. 14–I am thankful that my son fixed the scratch that went the whole length of the passenger side of our 2018 SUV (wouldn’t have been so bad if it had been the old truck). Not sure, but I think it was a shopping cart run amok in the Fred Meyer parking lot.
Forgot to mention it yesterday, but that was a really cute picture of you!
I am thankful for this incredible site and wonderful community that has been created,! I love the like mindedness and encouragement, it blesses me every single week! Thank you!
I am thankful for the choir I’m part of.
The pomegranates are beautiful!
I am thankful for dental insurance, so that I do not have to dip into my emergency fund.
Thankful for our wonderful local library, which has saved me thousands over the years.
I’m thankful I have a home.
Ellie’s Friend mentioned Velcro two days ago, and I am thankful that I raised a son in a time when velcro, double-knit, easy care, stretch cotton fabrics were the norm for children’s clothing. I admire vintage-looking outfits for toddlers, but I sure do not want to even think about putting him in something I had to starch and iron! Or maneuver around glass dishes and bottles instead of (recyclable) plastic ones. Remember when shampoo bottles were glass?
More broadly, I am so thankful that my son was born at a time when special needs people are being recognized as people of inherent dignity and worth, just as all people are. His diagnosis is on the autism spectrum. When he was in first grade and his occupational therapist tried to get him to learn to tie his shoes, he told her that when he was grown up, he would buy all the velcro in the world for shoes. He has worn velcro shoes ever since.
Heidi Louise,
I love your son’s comment to his occupational therapist!
I am thankful that I have finally reached a place in my life where I am more content and appreciative of the good things. Sometimes there are situations and people you can’t change so I’ve tried to change my outlook. It’s not always easy but now at least I can count my blessings and focus on the people and things that are good in my life.
I am thankful that instead of thinking “no canned chili beans so no chili” I got out my big container of pinto beans and made my own in the instant pot! This blog really does shift thinking and actions!
I am thankful for hot running water in my home so that I can take a warm, although short in order to be frugal, shower even on a cold morning.
I am thankful for enough. Enough of everything. Enough food. Enough water. Enough warm clothing. Also the realization that enough is enough.
“Enough is as good of a feast.” Caroline Ingalls.
We often talk about how wonderful it is to have enough.
I’m thankful that I can take my daughter to see Santa tomorrow for the first time!
I’m thankful that the kitchen is coming together after getting new linoleum, the bath, too. It’s been tiring but so worth it!
I am so thankful that what appeared to be a painful rejection from someone I loved turned out to be a misunderstanding.
I am thankful that my youngest granddaughter is now a student at the university in the town where I live. My grandchildren live many states away and now to have one in the same town is such a gift. I am doubly thankful that she is attending college on a scholarship.
I am thankful for a beautifully sunny day that melted the snow on our drive-way, no need to pull out the shovels.
I am thankful that the Christmas music channel is back on our tv. I LOVE Christmas, but am holding myself back on putting up the Christmas tree. However, I will allow myself to listen to Christmas music. Please don’t judge me. ?
No judgment here. We live in Texas where it was in the 70s yesterday. Christmas music helps me feel the holidays are here. I’m originally from the Mid West whee it felt like Thanksgiving in November!
I am thankful for our old but still running cars (from 2002 and 2004). They are both still under 100k miles, so hopefully they have years left in them!
Today I was thankful for some extra free time to read.
I am thankful that we fixed the plumbing ourselves and got the smell out of the house.
I am thankful my sister arrived on this day for a visit. She just moved to California from the East coast so I look forward to more regular visits with her.
I am thankful to have a nice neighborhood to take walks in.
