Thanksgiving Entry The Prudent Homemaker

I am thankful for a YouTube tutorial that taught me how to do three things in Lightroom with very simple and clear instructions. I was only looking for one thing in particular, so the other two elements it taught me were not only a bonus, but they were two things I was wondering how to do.

I’m thankful for video chat, which allowed me to both hear and see my daughter at college on Sunday. My husband and I remember taking turns on the phone and paying for long distance (or having a time to be home so that our parents could call us while we were at college!). We use the free Duo app for video calling.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I attended my village’s Christmas Farmers’ market. I am grateful for all the local people who baked, and made things for us to enjoy, and for the local organization that sponsors the market, giving people a way to add income to their households. I have handmade soap, and a supply of homemade bacon in the freezer, and a loaf of bread covered generously in sesame seeds.

  2. I’m just thankful today. I have been fighting the blues and I’ve been trying to keep perspective. God calls us to lean into Him. That’s what I’ve been trying to focus on.

  3. I am thankful for the lovely homemade cards my children made my Mother for her 83rd birthday. My children are in high school and could be considered “too old” for such things. Instead, they enjoyed making very clever and creative cards for my Mother to enjoy. I know she will enjoy them very much.

  4. For families, young and old.
I will count that for two days, as I have two new great-nieces and a new great-nephew this month– the young, and many memories of my own aunts, uncles, and grandparents– the old.

  5. I am so thankful for the tools I have- my sewing machine and longarm quilting machine that have been worth their cost in durability and savings that I get by using them as well as helping me bring extra income into our household! They add creativity to my life!

  6. I’m also thankful for the ease with which we can contact far away family!
Today I’m thankful for getting the opportunity to go visit with a dear family member this week while I have time off!

  7. My goodness, that’s a stunning arrangement. Your gift for capturing beautiful moments in sensitive and evocative ways continues to touch me, and many others. I admire you very much for putting your talents to use in your photography business.

I’m thankful for yesterday’s sermon, and my pastor’s gentle reminder that intentional thankfulness, “in all circumstances”, is an important part of a healthy lifestyle – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, even physically.

  8. November 23: I am thankful for a free continuing education class which included lunch.

November 24: I am thankful for a date night OUT with my husband!

  9. I am thankful that I have a warmer winter comforter that I put on my bed today when changing the sheets. The first comforter is thin and the feathers clump to one end of the comforter, so it isn’t very warm. I am also thankful that I talked myself out of going to the grocery store today. We will be away for two days for Thanksgiving and have plenty to eat at home. I don’t need to shop just because I think I need a few items.

  10. I am thankful for my smart phone. I not only can call my daughter long distance for free (like Brandy, I remember those long distance call days!), but I can and do use it to check e-mails, use online coupons, check news and entertainment websites, read books, listen to radio sports contests for out of market teams, research solutions to problems, get reviews on products that interest me, stay in touch with friends, post pictures and look at those of others, etc., etc., etc., all on something that fits in the palm of my hand.

  11. I am so thankful for a long-awaited, stress-free weekend with two delicious, church Thanksgiving dinners with family and sweet friends, and beautiful fall weather. I am thankful that the Youth Baked Goods auction yielded enough money to send 6 kids to summer camp, and that there will be more fundraisers. Our grandsons will be going to that camp, and we would have to pay, otherwise.

  12. Nov. 23–I’m thankful that I had home ec in 7th and 8th grade. I use what I learned every single day!

Nov. 24–I was going to say that I was thankful that I was able to sew a gift for my daughter-in-law, but then I goobered it up (bigtime). Flannel is not forgiving if you have to rip a lot, and I needed to rip all of it…and it’s an overcast stitch, similar to serging, on 1/4 inch seams. Frugal fail–I’m going to replace the fabric when JoAnn’s has it on a big sale Wednesday. What I am REALLY thankful for is my husband, who was 100% sympathetic and then massaged my feet!

  13. Thankful for my large grey & white rescue cat. His quiet serene presence is calming. He greets me at the back door each day when I return from work. He lays next to me & purrs. A comfort after a hectic day.

  14. I’m grateful that I have access to health care and that grocery stores in my country contain food. One of my husband’s relatives in Venezuela needed surgery recently, and to raise money, the family raffled off a large tech item, but also smaller items like a package of rice, a package of flour, and so on. People were happy to buy the raffle tickets, not just to help raise funds, but also because there is often no food available in the grocery stores, even if you have money to buy food. I feel very lucky to have money to buy food AND that there is food available for me to buy.

  15. I’m thankful that my son and his ex-wife have been able to put all differences and disagreements aside in order to make joint decisions in the best interests of their children. The courts have never been involved in any issues of child care or custody. They have worked things out on their own. And we grandparents have even stayed friends all these years. What a blessing for all of us.

  16. The flower arrangement is gorgeous! I’ve missed seeing these 🙂

I’m thankful for the sunshine today. It really helped lift my spirits

  17. Today I am thankful for snow. It is beautiful even if cold. Snow insulates and provides beauty. Not to mention how much fun snow sports are. We had another snow storm today…not too early this time.

Yesterday we attended a Friendsgiving pot luck. It is the first group event I have been to in 5 months. I was able to attend and managed despite feeling overwhelmed. Today I’m resting at home so as not to overdo. I count it pure joy to have a group of friends.

  18. I’m thankful that my parents, aged 77 and 79, are still healthy and vigorous enough to want to host Thanksgiving (I’ve offered to host every year since they turned 70, but they won’t hear of it!). I’m thankful for my two healthy sons ages 7 and 3. I’m thankful for well-run, caring the schools my sons attend. I’m thankful for a job that I’m good at and that pays a living wage. I’m thankful for all of the friends and family I’ll see this week as we celebrate Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for a safe, comfortable home. A life full of gifts!

  19. 11/23 – I am thankful for a friendly conversation with a young woman at the gym. Her kind words really brightened my day.

11/24 – I am thankful for a beautiful symphony performance we attended.

  20. I am thankful for the beautiful large maple tree that grows in my neighbor’s backyard. It is the main view in my kitchen window and I love watching the changing colors on it throughout the seasons.

I am thankful for the yard work and projects around the house that my husband does.
