It’s been a hot week, requiring us to still run the a/c both day and night (I tried turning it off and opening the windows at night, but it was 81º in the house at 10:30 p.m. and it was just a bit too hot, even under the fan). However, it made for a pleasant,…
I spent a lot of time canning last week, and that took priority over everything else.. Friday and Saturday I watched a free online food photography class on Creative Live. For some strange reason my flash player wasn’t working (so I missed part of the class) and I ended up having to watch it on…
I thought I’d share with you the gifts that I made Liberty for her birthday. I made her this necklace and this bracelet. I bought the pink beads many months ago at Michael’s when they had a 40% off bead sale. This was one of the least expensive stings of beads. The chain and 2 jump…
We celebrated Elsa’s birthday this week. For decorations, my son made a doily banner using doilies that my sister-in-law had given to me and some crochet thread (for the string) that had come from my grandmother. I left the ranunculus on the table that I had purchased at the nursery last week. They were a…
A major goal of mine for this month is to make as much room as possible in our freezers for turkeys and hams in November and December. The trouble is, they are all full right now. (What a blessing!) While I don’t intend to completely empty them, I do want to make plenty of room for at…
I had a lovely surprise party for my husband’s 50th birthday. I borrowed tables and chairs to have enough seating for everyone. We ate from regular plates and bowls. We ate outside on our back patio. Our menu: Individual sized French BreadIndividual sized Rosemary Olive Oil Bread Tomato Basil SoupPasta e Fagioli Pasta Salad (I used green…
I am thankful for my husband.
I am grateful my close friend’s adult daughters want to recreate their childhood tradition of the four of us baking Christmas cookies together, so we’ve scheduled that. ❤️
I’m thankful we have finally come to a decision about where to retire. It’s been more and more difficult for us to live alone as we age. I feel like we will be entering a new stage of our lives and I’m looking forward to being close to our children and some of our grandchildren.
I hope you had a wonderful time together! I’m thankful for the miracles of modern medicine. I’ve just finished a round of chemotherapy cream on my forehead to get ahead of some pre-cancerous spots. I look horrible, but it’s all good!
As silly as it may sound I was extremely thankful for ”finding my way back” to my Pinterest account which I couldn’t access for 6+ months. I really do need something beautiful to look at during the dark and cold winter months, and there it is, all neatly categorized 🙂
I am thankful for having a daughter and her family live near by! Yesterday I popped in to grab some compost and we chatted for half an hour while I helped with lunch prep and played with her youngest, who is 15 months old. Having kids in other states and countries make me so grateful to have their family so close and attending church together! It is a gift!
I am grateful for warmer than typical weather.
I am grateful for a good night’s sleep and a warm home to sleep in.
I am grateful that my Mother’s fall off the step-stool resulted in only a bruised ego and a small bruise on her bottom and nothing more.
I am grateful that my parents live only 3 blocks away from us and are still living independently at 91 3/4 and 87 years of age.

I am thankful that Thanksgiving left lots of leftovers in my fridge, which meant less grocery shopping and easy to prepare meals. I am also grateful to watch Christmas movies on my streaming services. I try to be selective, but I love the variety of movies that are out there. One I watched recently, which I hadn’t seen before, was “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” the imagined story of Charles Dickens as he wrote “A Christmas Carol”.
I am very grateful to I who picked up a coupon I had, then went to the store and picked up the free item. She then went and picked up the Christmas cards I made from my photos. So I was able to write almost all of my Christmas cards today. And it saved me a lot of money as I did not have to take a cab. I am really thankful.
