Marivene is a reader who has commented on my site for years, and I have learned so much from her comments. Because of her, I put a grape leaf in every jar of pickles I make, so that they are crunchy. In the past, when she has not commented for a couple of weeks, I…
I picked grapes, basil, Thai Basil, tomatoes, chamomile, one small cucumber, and apples from the garden. Zinnia Seedlings I planted zinnias, vincas, Swiss chard, Armenian cucumbers, and melons from seed in the front yard. The zinnias, chard, and cucumbers came up already! I collected seeds in my garden to plant again from larkspur and lettuce. I fixed two…
I made a cake from scratch for Liberty’s birthday. That is an Armenian cucumber. I harvested some Armenian cucumbers from the front garden, including one super large one. I canned 14 pints of dill pickles. I also picked a few apples from the garden. I cut tarragon, basil, Swiss chard, and green onions from the…
Our unusual humidity continued, so I collected water from the drip off of the air conditioner for several days this week and used it to water the potted fruit trees on the back patio. We had rain! This is turning out to be the oddest weather year. Normally I can count one day in January…
I’ve been working on organizing several things lately. A few times, I’ve ended up spending more time organizing than I thought it would take, so a few of my goals for pushed aside for the pleasure of getting some things organized. I decided a couple of weeks ago to start including some of my cooking…
I cooked a turkey this week. Yes, I will be cooking a turkey next week, but that’s okay; it just means more meat this month! We enjoyed turkey sandwiches on French Bread with basil, tomatoes, and Italian dressing, as well as burritos with turkey, tomato rice, and lime ( I bought limes last week for .10…
I am thankful for my husband.
I am grateful my close friend’s adult daughters want to recreate their childhood tradition of the four of us baking Christmas cookies together, so we’ve scheduled that. ❤️
I’m thankful we have finally come to a decision about where to retire. It’s been more and more difficult for us to live alone as we age. I feel like we will be entering a new stage of our lives and I’m looking forward to being close to our children and some of our grandchildren.
I hope you had a wonderful time together! I’m thankful for the miracles of modern medicine. I’ve just finished a round of chemotherapy cream on my forehead to get ahead of some pre-cancerous spots. I look horrible, but it’s all good!
As silly as it may sound I was extremely thankful for ”finding my way back” to my Pinterest account which I couldn’t access for 6+ months. I really do need something beautiful to look at during the dark and cold winter months, and there it is, all neatly categorized 🙂
I am thankful for having a daughter and her family live near by! Yesterday I popped in to grab some compost and we chatted for half an hour while I helped with lunch prep and played with her youngest, who is 15 months old. Having kids in other states and countries make me so grateful to have their family so close and attending church together! It is a gift!
I am grateful for warmer than typical weather.
I am grateful for a good night’s sleep and a warm home to sleep in.
I am grateful that my Mother’s fall off the step-stool resulted in only a bruised ego and a small bruise on her bottom and nothing more.
I am grateful that my parents live only 3 blocks away from us and are still living independently at 91 3/4 and 87 years of age.

I am thankful that Thanksgiving left lots of leftovers in my fridge, which meant less grocery shopping and easy to prepare meals. I am also grateful to watch Christmas movies on my streaming services. I try to be selective, but I love the variety of movies that are out there. One I watched recently, which I hadn’t seen before, was “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” the imagined story of Charles Dickens as he wrote “A Christmas Carol”.
I am very grateful to I who picked up a coupon I had, then went to the store and picked up the free item. She then went and picked up the Christmas cards I made from my photos. So I was able to write almost all of my Christmas cards today. And it saved me a lot of money as I did not have to take a cab. I am really thankful.
