The phone bill came yesterday. It was significantly larger than normal. I have no long distance, no caller id, and no call waiting, and I’ve saved a significant amount not paying for each of those over the years. The increase was enough to make the change to getting a cell phone. I haven’t had a…
I often get asked where I find pretty items, such as glass bowls, that I use in my photos. Most of my bowls have come from my grandmother, who picked them up at garage sales. I went with my mom to the twice-a-year community garage sale near us on Saturday. I found several great things,…
Elsa’s dress is a new-to-us dress this week from a garage sale. I reprogrammed the drip system to water a few minutes less per day, since the weather is starting to cool down (I know these are high summer temperatures for many of you in colder climates!). I opened the windows to cool the house…
I harvested spinach, lettuce, and Meyer lemons from the garden. We made lemonade with our lemons. I received a free kumquat tree from a friend. I purchased a pot for it at Sam’s Club, which has inexpensive pots in the spring. I bought a few more pots there as well. She also gave me two…
1. Turn Liberty and Winter’s torn jeans into shorts 2. Hem my husband’s jeans 3. Run some more water lines in the garden 4. Sew birthday presents for Ivory 5. Make popsicles 6. Start making Easter rabbits 7. Write a couple of blog posts 8. Update garage sale list with our current needs and sizes….
We ate salad from the garden every day. Some meals it was the main course with homemade bread of crackers, and sometimes it was the first course in another meal. I also picked Swiss chard several days, so we had lots of greens in our meals this week, spinach, green onions, parsley, chives, a couple of stems of asparagus,…
I am thankful for my husband.
I am grateful my close friend’s adult daughters want to recreate their childhood tradition of the four of us baking Christmas cookies together, so we’ve scheduled that. ❤️
I’m thankful we have finally come to a decision about where to retire. It’s been more and more difficult for us to live alone as we age. I feel like we will be entering a new stage of our lives and I’m looking forward to being close to our children and some of our grandchildren.
I hope you had a wonderful time together! I’m thankful for the miracles of modern medicine. I’ve just finished a round of chemotherapy cream on my forehead to get ahead of some pre-cancerous spots. I look horrible, but it’s all good!
As silly as it may sound I was extremely thankful for ”finding my way back” to my Pinterest account which I couldn’t access for 6+ months. I really do need something beautiful to look at during the dark and cold winter months, and there it is, all neatly categorized 🙂
I am thankful for having a daughter and her family live near by! Yesterday I popped in to grab some compost and we chatted for half an hour while I helped with lunch prep and played with her youngest, who is 15 months old. Having kids in other states and countries make me so grateful to have their family so close and attending church together! It is a gift!
I am grateful for warmer than typical weather.
I am grateful for a good night’s sleep and a warm home to sleep in.
I am grateful that my Mother’s fall off the step-stool resulted in only a bruised ego and a small bruise on her bottom and nothing more.
I am grateful that my parents live only 3 blocks away from us and are still living independently at 91 3/4 and 87 years of age.

I am thankful that Thanksgiving left lots of leftovers in my fridge, which meant less grocery shopping and easy to prepare meals. I am also grateful to watch Christmas movies on my streaming services. I try to be selective, but I love the variety of movies that are out there. One I watched recently, which I hadn’t seen before, was “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” the imagined story of Charles Dickens as he wrote “A Christmas Carol”.
I am very grateful to I who picked up a coupon I had, then went to the store and picked up the free item. She then went and picked up the Christmas cards I made from my photos. So I was able to write almost all of my Christmas cards today. And it saved me a lot of money as I did not have to take a cab. I am really thankful.
