I am thankful that I found a way to incorporate leftovers into dinner so that food didn’t go to waste.

I took my gardening goals off last week because I thought I wouldn’t have time for them. I ended up filling two trash cans from the garden anyway, with a few weeds and mostly with a tomato plant that succumbed to disease. I also ended up doing a little bit of fall planting of seeds. I…
We put out our Christmas decorations this week. For us, that means pulling out a faux Christmas tree, a nativity, a bit of faux greenery, stockings, and three wreaths. This year I added to those things with three new wreaths–the one I posted over the bed last week, and two that I made this week…
The heat has been intense; it was 118º for over 10 days right after the garden was planted. After that it cooled to 110º. Several plants are dealing with sunscald, and several roses are dead (as well as a few euyonomous bushes). The others are struggling. I hesitate to replace anything yet because it will…
Winter did a science experiment this week using materials we had on hand. This roundup of frugal activities from last week is brought to you a few days late, thanks to Pinterest, and all of those lovely people who pinned such beautiful garden images. I have been dreaming of re landscaping our front yard (if…
We enjoyed a trip to two local museums that were free for Nevada Day on Friday. We had never been before and entrance for our family would have been $93! Most things were indoors, but Ezrom decided to make goofy faces for me at one outdoor display. I did get a kick out of a…
Ezrom bought some clay with his birthday money from his grandparents and made the Polie family. I harvested green onions, garlic scapes, marjoram, thyme, and rosemary from my garden this week. I planted dill and mustard seeds from my pantry in the garden. I planted several more seeds in the garden–both flowers and food. I transplanted…

I’m thankful for the ability to go to the grocery store and purchase what we need without worry. This has not always been the case. I used to wish for the time when I wouldn’t have to count pennies when I went to the store. Now, I don’t, but I cannot give up my frugal ways. I’m thankful frugalness served me well.
I am thankful for my right to vote.
