I am thankful that I found a way to incorporate leftovers into dinner so that food didn’t go to waste.
What are you thankful for today?

We took last week off of school when it became obvious on Monday that our week was going to go a bit differently than I thought. We finished butchering chickens on Monday, I spent several days cutting them up for the freezer, and we had an impromptu garage sale on Friday morning. This week we’re…
I picked blackberries from the garden. I also cut Swiss chard and green onions from the garden this week. I harvested 2 small Early Girl tomatoes. They are already quite small because of the intense heat. Usually they are bigger at this time of year, so I don’t know if my other ones will be…
Last week was a busy week! I sprouted alfalfa seeds. I made steak sauce. When we were asked to bring a refreshment to a cub scout event, we brought popcorn that we popped on the stove, rather than making cookies (which would have been a lot more money). I watched some shows for free on…
I made two lemon meringue pies to celebrate Ezrom’s birthday and my grandmother’s birthday. I used lemons from the garden to make them. I used shortening in the crust instead of butter, which kept the cost down. It was less than $1 for both pies. He loved the giant origami cranes that his sister folded and hung for…
I’m so excited to offer this free printable on the website. I’ve been working on it for a really long time, so I just kept making new bookmarks, and giving them to my children, and to their friends when they had birthdays. This means that this isn’t just one free printable, there are several, with more planned…
Most of my accomplishments last week centered around helping the children with their schoolwork and chores. Nevertheless, I did manage to do some things to save money: We played outside in the backyard. As our humidity continued, I was able to collect 15-20 quarts of water a day from the runoff of the air conditioner….

I am grateful for my electric slow cooker (“Crock-Pot”). Coming home at the end of a long day to a warm meal ready to go is such a treat!

I’m thankful for the ability to go to the grocery store and purchase what we need without worry. This has not always been the case. I used to wish for the time when I wouldn’t have to count pennies when I went to the store. Now, I don’t, but I cannot give up my frugal ways. I’m thankful frugalness served me well.
I am thankful for my right to vote.
