White Roses The Prudent Homemaker

Here are a few things to note:

First, of course, is that my blog is now integrated into my website. It wasn’t a perfect transition; it appears that we lost some comments and all of my photo were shrunk. I’m going to work at putting every photo back in, but that will take a bit. I’m also having to fix each link within posts to other posts. Please bear with me as it will take a while. I’m certain there are more things to fix; I’ll be searching for them and working on them.

Second, the menu bars have changed. Things have been moved around. Because of this, your links from Pinterest may or may not work. All posts to individual blog posts will no longer work. You can use the search button at the top of the blog or at the top of the site to find any posts that you need to update.

Speaking of Pinterest, the blog came with that built in Pin It button, but it isn’t working correctly (it only lets you pin the first photo). I’ll have to learn how to change that.

Third, there are some new things on the website, including a new recipe.

Fourth, the site is mobile compatible. If you’re looking at it on a phone or other device, the layout will change from the version you see on the computer.

I’m planning some great posts for every day in November, so visit often!

  2. Wow, great new look, big improvement. I like the overall look, lots of white and empty spaces, visually really nice. On the main web page, the black background is sort of unpleasant with the light blue writing. But overall, it is great.

  3. So excited for you! Can’t wait til I have a chance to take a look around. I’ve been a follower for many years but I don;t think I have ever commented. Thank you for all you do. You are a huge source of encouragement and inspiration!

  4. love your new website. i usually read weekly, if i had not kept up with your site i would have a lot to read. so interesting. love to hear what’s happening there.

  5. Oh, it’s beautiful! Congratulations on getting this done and completing most of the work. There is always more work to be done, I know…. Love your photography!

  6. LOVE LOVE LOVE the new look of your Web site. I can’t wait to see what is new and what other wonderful things you have to share. You have my favorite Web site and blog!

  7. Am loving the new look! I loved the old one too, but I agree with other’s comments, your website is beautiful, crisp and elegant. I gain a lot of inspiration and encouragement when I come to visit and read your website.

  8. Um, this is my favourite blog by far, but now I can’t access the comments to the frugal accomplishments which is my most looked forward fun of every week! How are there only 25 comments instead of the over a hundred there used to be, and I can’t read the whole comment? What am I doing wrong?

  9. Brandy-

The site is simply stunning! Congratuations and I am really looking forward to leaning more from you !

  10. LOVE IT !!!!! Love the pics .Thank you again for all your work you put into it. Its very appreciated . 🙂

  11. We’re looking into that. I’m hoping they all came over! I’ve deleted the old blog. You should be able to see all of each comment, though. On the posts previous to this one, the program gave each post a title. It’s the first few words of the post. Then the same words are repeated below it. I turned that setting off and it seems to only have applied to this post and any future posts. It’s kind of weird, but the posts that are there do have the whole post. I don’t know why all of the posts are limited to 25 comments 🙁 I’m hoping that doesn’t continue and everything is still there. If not, we will just have to move forward from here.

  12. It’s so pretty!!!!! Can’t wait for the Gift a Day series to start again – I always shamelessly steal your ideas. I know you’ve mentioned you have jury duty this month; you’ll just have to tell the court they can’t have you! Knowing your luck (and ours) you’ll get some murder trial and be sequestered until February . . . .

  13. Brandy,
you have such a sense of beauty, I think it’s your trademark (and for less, of course! 🙂 )
Congratulations for the huge work done and thank you for blesseing us others!

  14. It looks great! I was always curious why you had a separate blog to begin with. I’m sure this will be much more streamlined for you.

Will you still do the weekly frugal accompishment posts? Those and your gardening posts are my favorite!

  15. Hi Brandy,
The new site is absolutely gorgeous! It’s really easy to navigate and I love that all of your helpful information is wrapped up in one site! Congratulations on your beautiful new site!

  16. Wow! The Lord has really blessed you with talent! You make everything look so elegant and beautiful! Thanks so much for the encouragement and the reminders to use what we have to make everyday fantastic frugal decisions.

  17. Congratulations on creating such a beautiful new website. I’m so happy you’re blog transition has worked well, despite the minor hiccups which I’m sure you will work out with time. Sadly, I was having “Brandy withdrawal” while we were waiting for your great reveal. Glad your back up and running. I’m looking forward to all your new posts…especially the Christmas ones!

  18. Brandy:

Congratulations on your site transition! The pictures are stunning. I look forward to all your upcoming posts.

    Best wishes

  19. I’m kinda confused here; There is no more blog it’s now here in your website I got that.
I’m wondering how we will get the new notices when you do a post since I was signed up to receive the blog posts via email.

Do I have to sign up to receive notices from your website?

  20. Yes, you will need to. Unfortunately the sign up isn’t working properly. The person who can help me with that is at a conference for the next 8 days. I’ll announce when I’ve got it working again. Until then, you can check the blog page or my homepage for updates. I’ll be posting every day in November.

  21. The new site is stunning, as I thought it would be. Bravo!
I think it is wonderful to have everything in one place, and I certainly feel for you during this brief period of “ironing out the kinks”.

I did find this font rather difficult to read, not nearly as soft on the eyes as others may be. But perhaps that is just me.

I am so excited to see what lies ahead! Congratulations!

  22. It looks stunning, but I’m not sure if it’s my computer or not, but the font is difficult to read. Could be a resolution issue on my computer. My comments font does not appear to be affected.

  23. It’s beautiful!
I thought you had said there weren’t going to be any more comments and I was disappointed because I truly learn from the Frugal Accomplishments and the comments that follow. But whatever you decide to do, I’m so glad you are continuing to blog.

  24. Thank you Brandy for answering my comment! I so look forward to reading your blog and the posts so I hope it works out.

  25. Wow, your new site looks wonderful. I am going to enjoy going over it all over again. Thanks for all your efforts.

  26. The new website and layout is absolutely stunning! Though I sorta miss having your posts laid out clearly in chronological order like it was in your old blog, I am having fun exploring your new website and looking at old posts I missed. 🙂

  27. Cate, we’re still working to get an email subscription set up. With Blogger, it was almost automatic. Here, it is beyond my knowledge, and I have to pay someone to help me with some things, including that. The man I hired had a conference to attend and will be back later this month, and then we’ll see what we can do to get it set up. I wanted to get the site up and going so that no one would have to wait for more posts, so until we get it set up, make sure to check back, and not just weekly; I’m posting every day in November, and most days will have 2 or more posts!

When we have email available, you’ll need to sign up from here to receive emails again. I’ll be posting an update when we have that available.

  28. I wanted to say how beautiful the new space is. You have no idea how appreciate you are for all that you share. I pop I. Time to time and back read everything I missed. I always leave inspired to do better with all that I am blessed with. THank you for everything!

  29. I haven’t located the button to have additional comments forwarded to my email and discovered I haven’t kept up this week at all. I was wondering why the comments dried up this week, but they didn’t. I just didn’t know about them. Also, the site doesn’t remember me. I have to fully type my information each time.

  30. Paula, I don’t know if that’s even an option (the comments!) with this program. I didn’t know it worked that way with blogger.

I noticed the site not remembering. I don’t know if I can configure it to do that, but I have to type it in for myself, too. It’s a new program for me and each part has multiple steps to setting it up properly. Some I can do and some I have to pay someone to do. I’ll keep looking to see what I can figure out.

  31. I love reading your blog, but now that the site has been upgraded, it takes so long for my slow Internet connection to load. I’m wondering if others are having the same problems? I’d hate to stop reading, but I can’t spend so much time waiting and waiting, only to have my computer crash.

  32. Jennifer, I’m really sorry to hear that. No one else has mentioned that issue to me. Are you on dial-up? I have the very slowest cable connection (you have to go to the cable company’s website to even see that they offer this speed; they don’t advertise it if you call them) and I don’t have any problems. It is, however, faster than dial-up (we compared data speeds)–and pretty close in cost in my area. I’d hate to have you stop reading, too. I don’t know what else to do for you, though. I’m sorry you can’t load it. Perhaps you could try bookmarking and just loading the blog page instead of the homepage? There are more slideshows on the homepage and that could be making it slower for you.

  33. I don’t know how Feedly works, but I think it uses the RSS feed, which doesn’t seem to be working. I hired someone to help me with the move, but he had a conference to attend. Rather than waiting two weeks for him to return, I wanted to go live before he left so that I could post every day this month. When he comes back I am having him look at that. Hopefully by next week it will be working!

  34. I’m back! The site is loading beautifully, now. I did as you suggested and it worked! I’m happy not to miss any more posts. And I’m very glad no one else was having this issue, and now I’m not, either!

    Thanks for your thoughtful reply!

  35. You did an amazing job! Thank you for all your hard work to create an even better website for us, your readers, to enjoy!
