What are you thankful for today?
After a very busy Memorial Day spent doing lots of chores, I’ve written my list of to-dos for the week. It is 102º today; I spent a lot of time outside yesterday. I still have many garden tasks left. Here’s what I’m hoping to accomplish this week (not counting things like laundry, homeschooling, regular cooking…
I am thankful that my husband was able to come home to visit for Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for?
I worked in the garden a lot last week, filling trash cans with overgrown branches and vines. After filling 5 trash cans I still haven’t made much of a dent in the garden, so this week I plan to do a lot more pruning. I also need to finish mixing manure in the beds and get…
I picked Genovese basil, Thai basil, and tomatoes from the garden. We also harvested Thompson’s seedless green grapes and Dorsett Golden Apples. I picked an aloe leaf from my aloe plant to put on the sunburn I got while I was out watering some things in the garden by hand. We watched the space station move…
I used a gallon-sized pickle jar to hold the 6 pounds of brown lentils that I bought in bulk a little while back. It looks like I could probably fit another pound in the jar! I love using large pickle jars to hold beans. I did find out that my family (including myself) prefers…
I made blueberry muffins, zucchini muffins, bean burritos, fried chicken, black bean burgers, beef stroganoff (using some beef that was given to us last year by someone who was clearing out her freezer to make room for half a cow), oatmeal, and spaghetti. My husband cut his own hair. My husband took two classes to…
I am thankful for the work and care of the people who post regularly on the facebook page of the historical society from the small town where my parents grew up. This brings back my parents and grandparents in my mind as I see reminders of the good lives they lived, even just doing ordinary things.
I am thankful for the people that comment here who make up a wonderful, supportive and encouraging community. Of course, none of this would be possible without you, Brandy, so I am thankful for you. Likewise for my friends far and wide.
I am grateful that technology has allowed me to teach from my home.
I am thankful for helping hands that put together a funeral luncheon for a woman in our community. Sweet people to work with, help out, and get to know better.
I am thankful for living in a wonderful community with kind neighbors.
