My brother sent us a beautiful sympathy bouquet that also included a vase that I love. We were given some sliced watermelon and 2 loaves of bread. My mom gave me a pot of white spider mums. I am going to plant it in the front garden. We returned the extra dirt that I purchased…
I’ve known Cyrus’ birthday was coming but now I feel as though it has snuck up on me! I made a change to last week’s goals as part of it with a sewing project on Saturday, and I’ll have plans today for it as well, since his birthday is tomorrow! Here’s how I did last…
I spent part of everyday in the garden this week, and all day Saturday. January is like fall, winter, and spring to me; it gets cold enough that the apples finally lose their leaves, it’s cold earlier in the month, and then the third week of January comes and everything is beautiful, especially in the…
January is the busiest month in my garden. With our first frost usually falling in early-mid December, and our last frost in mid-February, I have a short season while my plants are dormant in which to prune in the garden. (In fact, we usually only have two or three periods of frost each winter). With 40…
I did not go grocery shopping again this week (this makes 4 weeks now). Our freezers are now full with chicken (I cut up the rest of the birds this week and put them in the freezer. Many thanks to those of you who said to let the meat rest 3 days; we experimented with…
I used a gallon-sized pickle jar to hold the 6 pounds of brown lentils that I bought in bulk a little while back. It looks like I could probably fit another pound in the jar! I love using large pickle jars to hold beans. I did find out that my family (including myself) prefers…
I am thankful for the work and care of the people who post regularly on the facebook page of the historical society from the small town where my parents grew up. This brings back my parents and grandparents in my mind as I see reminders of the good lives they lived, even just doing ordinary things.
I am thankful for the people that comment here who make up a wonderful, supportive and encouraging community. Of course, none of this would be possible without you, Brandy, so I am thankful for you. Likewise for my friends far and wide.
I am grateful that technology has allowed me to teach from my home.
I am thankful for helping hands that put together a funeral luncheon for a woman in our community. Sweet people to work with, help out, and get to know better.
I am thankful for living in a wonderful community with kind neighbors.
