Last Week’s Goals: 1. Change the school schedule slightly so that my 5-year-old and 7-year-old have reading with me first thing in the morning, with 5-year-old first and 7-year-old after he is done doing his after-breakfast chores. This worked well 4 of the 5 days last week. I will be continuing this one this…
This is the view from my front door. (There is a pendant light right above this table). The table was free from my mom this week; I have wanted a small round table in this spot since we moved in (my husband would prefer a side table, but I am thrilled!) The sunflowers are from…
I canned 6 quarts of giardinera pickles. Winter made several gifts for her sisters for Christmas gifts using fabric I already had and some free downloadable patterns. I cut two pomegranates from my tree. I harvested my only butternut squash this year, and cut one Armenian cucumber from the garden, and cut a but of…
Last week’s plans were completely changed when a friend, whom I haven’t seen in almost 8 years, emailed on Monday to ask if she and her family could come to visit on Friday, join us in our Fourth of July plans, and sleep at our place. We said yes, and changed our plans slightly to…
I picked peaches, Mission figs, Bartlett pears, grapes, and apples from the garden this week. We enjoyed some mushrooms that a friend gave to me (she received them in her CSA and she doesn’t like mushrooms). I took some photos of the children. I found a free online typing instruction course for Winter to use…
I am thankful for the work and care of the people who post regularly on the facebook page of the historical society from the small town where my parents grew up. This brings back my parents and grandparents in my mind as I see reminders of the good lives they lived, even just doing ordinary things.
I am thankful for the people that comment here who make up a wonderful, supportive and encouraging community. Of course, none of this would be possible without you, Brandy, so I am thankful for you. Likewise for my friends far and wide.
I am grateful that technology has allowed me to teach from my home.
I am thankful for helping hands that put together a funeral luncheon for a woman in our community. Sweet people to work with, help out, and get to know better.
I am thankful for living in a wonderful community with kind neighbors.
